Sister Wives stars Kody and Robyn Brown have aired the general drama and turmoil of their polyamorous family on international television for years. However, the latest set of challenges in their highly publicized relationship could prove to be too much for them to manage.
According to ScreenRant, Kody and Robyn have maintained a relatively close relationship within their sprawling family, often against other family members. People reported that each of Kody’s other marriages ended over the course of just a few years, leaving him and Robyn in a monogamous relationship to date.
Given the sudden shock to their family from the passing of their son Garrison in March, could their relationship be doomed? Here’s what we know so far:
How Did Garrison Brown Die?
TMZ reported that Garrison was believed to have taken his own life at just 25 years of age. This tragedy shook the entire family and may have put more strain on Robyn and Kody‘s relationship.
According to ScreenRant, Garrison was described as disapproving of Kody and as having a distant relationship with him. Losing Garrison before they could patch things up could be a tough mental hurdle to overcome while maintaining his remaining marriage to Robyn.
Some fans of the Sister Wives family have already begun to question if Kody and Robyn can keep it together despite a loss of this magnitude.
Kody Said, ‘… I Don’t Want Her To Know How Dark I’ve Gotten’
Robyn seems to be voicing her own concerns about Kody with time. People reported her saying: “For him, he’s straight, so he questions the opposite sex. So it’s this kind of huge upheaval in the way that you think about yourself and others. I think he is starting to do better. But it’s been a couple of years of this and then picking fights and then just acting like he’s … almost like he’s stressed out that I’ll leave him too or something.”
As for Kody, losing his other wives has hurt his confidence in himself and his remaining wife. According to People, he had the following to say about their relationship before Garrison’s passing: “It’s not just the husband that’s being left. Robyn’s feeling the ultimate rejection. This is stuff that I should just be keeping to myself. I don’t want Robyn to see this. I don’t want her to know how dark I’ve gotten.”
Robyn Brown Explained a Divorce Brings Out the Worst in You
Kody seems to be optimistic about the future of his family and relationships. He told People: “Just healing in time and getting to a point where you feel forgiveness towards somebody who’s just said bad things about you. It’s just moving. What will move us forward will be the grace, the love and the forgiveness. The same grace and love that we were giving each other 10 years ago as we’re going through this very difficult process.”
But, Robyn’s previous doubts relating to trust may shake Kody’s optimism. According to People, she had previously stated:
“(It had been) really hard to help him to realize and remember what our relationship is.
I don’t think anybody should be married while they’re going through a divorce. Anybody who’s gone through a divorce knows that it brings out the worst in you and sides of somebody that you didn’t know existed, type of a thing.”
