According to The Los Angeles Times, Kelly and Tim started dating sometime in 2011. At that point, they had already known each other for a decade.

People Magazine reported that Tim, who works as a talent manager, worked with Destiny’s Child in the early 2000s. In a 2016 interview with A Drink With, Kelly explained that when Michelle Williams joined Destiny’s Child, Tim started hanging around more often. He and Michelle had been friends since they were kids and basically viewed each other as family.
Before long, Kelly discovered that Tim had a serious crush on her. During a 2020 interview with Erwin McManus on the Mosaic YouTube channel, Kelly revealed that Michelle began talking about Tim’s crush almost right after she joined the group. However, Kelly wasn’t really paying much attention to Tim at the time.
