Everyone knows that Wendy Williams hasn’t been doing well.
But sadly, it looks like things are only getting worse for her.
Did Sabrina Morrissey Lie About Wendy Williams’ Health Condition?
Reportedly, her mental and physical state have started going downhill super fast recently.
And there’s no way you won’t be shocked when you hear about all the terrible things that she’s been going through.
We knew that things were bad when Wendy was forced to cancel her daytime talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, back in 2022.
But nobody could’ve predicted just how quickly her health would spiral in just a few short years after that.
In November 2024, PEOPLE obtained documents from a lawsuit that Wendy’s guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, filed.
In it, she claimed that Wendy had become “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled and legally incapacitated.”
Her update came as a shock to a lot of people who had no idea that things had gotten so bad for Wendy.
In early 2024, she stepped out of the limelight to focus on her health, and we haven’t really seen her much since.
But I don’t think anyone thought that her condition had reached the point where she would become 100% dependent on those surrounding her.
Insider Reveals Wendy Williams Is Doing Well Amid Sabrina’s Claims
And there are some people who still don’t believe that is actually the case, and they are questioning if Sabrina is telling the truth.
A family insider recently told the Daily Mail that Wendy was doing well.
They claimed: “’She is more clear now than she’s ever been throughout the guardianship, which is a problem for some.”
Who would that be a problem for?
Well, there are rumors brewing in the dark corners of the web that Wendy’s guardian is benefitting from the situation of having to look after Wendy’s estate and wealth.
So, by that line of thinking, the less well the former talk show host is, the more control Sabrina would have over her life.
Sabrina Morrissey’s Lawsuit Against A&E
The guardian is currently involved in a serious legal battle against A&E, the parent company of Lifetime, which produced the docuseries called Where is Wendy Williams?
A report by Global News revealed that in her filing against them, Sabrina made the allegation that the producers of the docuseries cruelly benefited from Wendy’s situation.
The lawsuit claimed that they took advantage of Wendy’s “cognitive and physical decline by creating and publishing a documentary at a time when she was highly vulnerable and incapable of consenting to be filmed.”
Sabrina’s attorneys also alleged that the production team even intentionally manipulated and provoked Wendy to trigger strong emotional reactions to get embarrassing footage.
A&E later filed a counterclaim against Sabrina.
They accused her of misusing her position as a guardian to silence criticism of her controversial and failed administration of Wendy’s guardianship.
Is Sabrina Taking Advantage Of Wendy Williams’ Health Condition To Benefit Herself?
So, is there a chance that Sabrina was just making Wendy’s condition sound worse than it was in her lawsuit because it worked in her favor?
It’s a theory that some internet sleuths are debating.
Because some people thought that Wendy was slowly making her way back into the spotlight.
USA Today reported on a story about how in August 2024, Wendy was spotted at a health products shop in New Jersey.
It was the first time she’d been seen in public since the news of her dementia diagnosis came out at the start of the year.
A lot of us took it as a good sign that she was starting to feel better.
Then, a couple months later, Wendy had an interview with the Daily Mail, and she kind of sounded like her usual self in it.
She told the outlet that she was ‘doing really good.’
She also said: “The documentary sucked. I understand that it is up for an award now. Everything is going really well.”
Wendy Williams Speaks Out About Diddy
The TV personality even dished on current celebrity gossip.
In the Daily Mail interview, she said that the Diddy investigation was a long time coming.
Wendy described the CCTV footage of Diddy harming his ex Cassie in 2016 as being ‘horrific.’
And she asked: “How many more times? How many people? How many more women? It’s just so horrible.”
I don’t know, I think it seems a little strange that Wendy would then be in as bad a state as her guardian claimed that she was, just a few weeks after the interview.
Wendy Williams’ Diagnosis Revealed
But I guess Wendy is very unwell.
She has a whole bunch of illnesses.
Her most recent diagnosis came out in February when her care team released a statement saying that she was suffering from frontotemporal dementia, or FTD.
According to PR Newswire, the statement read that a lot of people had speculated about Wendy’s condition, especially when she began to lose words, act erratically at times, and have difficulty understanding financial transactions.
An article by the Mayo Clinic explained that depending on which part of the brain FTD affects, a person could go through personality changes, like acting unstable, being distant, or behaving inappropriately.
Doctor Speaks Out About Wendy Williams’ Illness
For a report they did about FTD, TODAY interviewed Dr. Sami Barmada, an associate professor of neurology.
He talked about the illness that both Wendy and Bruce Willis suffer from.
Dr. Sami said that a lot of people think that someone with dementia just has problems with memory and Alzheimer’s disease.
But with FTD, a person might not necessarily have issues remembering things.
He explained: “It affects how people behave, how they interact with others and how they speak.”
Wendy Williams’ Health Problems
The sad thing is that Wendy was already dealing with a number of other health problems before she even got this most recent diagnosis.
In 2018, Wendy took a three-week hiatus from The Wendy Williams Show because of her challenges with Graves’ disease.
Her rep told TODAY that she’d never had to miss a day of work before, but her health needed to come first.
They said that she’d been openly dealing with the disease for years.
It’s an autoimmune condition that affects the thyroid gland.
Some of the symptoms include sweating, anxiety, weight loss, hair loss, trouble sleeping, bulging eyes and an increased heart rate, according to Cleveland Clinic.
When some of her viewers started commenting on the changes in her eyes, Wendy chose to talk about it on her show.
She shared that Graves’ disease squeezes the muscles behind the eyeballs, and it would even cause her eyeballs to twitch sometimes.
On top of all this, Wendy also has another condition called Lymphoedema.
This means that parts of her body can swell up.
In Where is Wendy Williams?, the documentary’s crew caught moments of Wendy struggling with the condition.
In one episode, Wendy cried out in pain and confessed that it hurt too much for her to stand anymore.
The docuseries also included shots of her swollen and discolored feet.
How Wendy Williams’ Health Challenges Have Affected Her And Work
As hard a worker as she was, Wendy’s health issues started to affect her ability to work.
She needed to take more time off work in 2019 to focus on getting better.
And then, in 2020, she had to do the same.
The TV host even fainted live on the air back in 2017.
During the Halloween episode of the show, she was dressed as the Statue of Liberty when all of a sudden, she began to shake.
She lost her words and then collapsed onto the floor.
Amazingly, after regaining consciousness, Wendy got back in front of the cameras and finished the episode, which shows just how dedicated she was to her career.
Unfortunately, she reached the point where her mind and body just couldn’t cope with working anymore.
In February 2022, it was announced that the 13th season of her show would be the last one, and her slot would be taken over by Sherri Shepherd.
Wendy Williams Opens Up About Drug Addiction
Wendy has been pretty open about some of the other challenges she’s had to deal with in her life that also affected her health.
She’s spoken about her addiction to substances.
In a jaw-dropping interview she did with Entertainment Tonight, Wendy revealed that early on in her career, she had a big problem with a well-known, powdery white substance.
She shared that she was a functioning addict.
She would report to work on time.
All of her coworkers and even her bosses reportedly knew what she was taking.
But because of the success she was having, they let her keep her job.
Wendy said: “I would grab my headphones and arrogantly walk into the studio and dare them to fire me because I was making ratings.“
Wendy Williams Admits To Drinking Problem
The TV personality also admitted that she had a drinking problem, too.
In an episode of Where Is Wendy Williams?, her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., said that his mom had been diagnosed with dementia that’d been brought on by her excessive drinking.
He claimed: “They basically said that because she was drinking so much, it was starting to affect her headspace and her brain.”
It’s honestly so sad that Wendy has to go through all this.
Hopefully, what her guardian said about her most recent health update was an exaggeration, and Wendy isn’t doing as badly as she claimed.
But what do you guys think?
Will Wendy ever be able to work again?
Do you think that she is surrounded by people who have her best interests at heart?
