Ever since the lawsuits against Diddy started coming out, people have been wondering if he committed the alleged crimes alone, or if there were other celebrities involved, too.
There’s been speculation that some of the stars that often went to his infamous parties also knew about the kind of twisted things that supposedly went on in the early morning hours.
Did Diddy And Jay-Z Commit Alleged Crimes Together?
And one name that has been mentioned a lot is Jay-Z.
Everyone knows that he was super close to Diddy and that they were deeply involved in each other’s professional and personal lives.
When the news first came out that Diddy was being accused of unspeakable things, the public was quick to notice that Jay-Z was distancing himself from his rapper friend.
He stepped out of the spotlight and seemed to have retreated from public events.
50 Cent Calls Out Jay-Z And Diddy
Even other celebrities, such as 50 Cent, called him out on his secretive behavior.
Of course, that wasn’t the first time that 50 Cent had taken a jab at either Diddy or Jay-Z.
According to VIBE, 50 Cent began calling Jay-Z out, using his social media to comment on how he’d pretty much disappeared from the public eye.
He took to Instagram to joke that Jay-Z was in hibernation and wasn’t coming outside until stuff with Diddy had blown over.
Though he distanced himself from Diddy, eventually, something happened that tied his name with the disgraced hip-hop mogul in headlines all around the world.
Why Tony Buzbee Filed Lawsuit Against Jay-Z
The BBC reported that in October 2024, a Texas-based lawyer named Tony Buzbee filed a lawsuit on behalf of one of his plaintiffs.
The client claimed that in 2000, she’d been physically harmed by Diddy and another male celebrity at a house party when she was just 13 years old.
The lawsuit was refiled in December 2024, and this time, it listed Jay-Z as the other defendant.
Tony claimed that the name was added at the request of his client.
The Texan attorney has also told the press that he would be representing 120 people who’d made allegations against Diddy.
He hasn’t listed the names of any of the victims in the lawsuits he’s filed so far, though.
Jay-Z Said, ‘I Will Not Give You One Red Penny!’
So, how did Jay-Z first react to the lawsuit against him?
An article by TODAY revealed that he released a statement defending his innocence and attacking Tony and his firm.
He wrote that his own lawyer received an extortion attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee.
Jay-Z alleged that Tony had calculated that the nature of the horrific allegations and the public scrutiny would make him want to settle.
The rapper claimed that it had the opposite effect – it made him want to expose the lawyer as a fraud in a VERY public fashion.
He said: “I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!”
In the statement, Jay-Z also wrote that his heart went out to the true victims in the world, who had to watch how their life story was dressed in costume for profitability by Tony.
He finished by telling the lawyer that he’d made a terrible error in judgment, thinking that all celebrities were the same, and he looked forward to showing him just how different he was.
Will Jay-Z’s Lawsuit Be Dismissed?
A more recent report by the BBC revealed that Jay-Z and his legal team were asking that the court dismiss the case against him because of the inconsistencies in the victim’s story.
His attorney, Alex Spiro, told the outlet that it was stunning that a lawyer would not only file such a serious complaint without proper vetting, but that he would make things worse by further peddling the false story in the press.
Alex claimed that the incident didn’t happen, and yet the lawyer filed it in court and doubled down in the press.
Jay-Z’s Lawsuit Against Tony Buzbee
Vulture wrote that Jay-Z is also suing Tony, alleging that the lawyer shamelessly tried to extort the rapper in a ‘calculated plot to destroy’ his reputation.
Tony later took to Instagram to make the accusation that people had been mysteriously contacting ex-clients of his law firm, trying to get harmful information from them.
He said that he’d never had a situation where he’d gotten this type of response.
Tony asked: “Wonder what they are hiding or what they are afraid of being exposed?”
It recently came out that Tony was actually suing Jay-Z’s company Roc Nation and his law firm for the same allegations that he’d previously made on social media.
He alleged that two ‘pushy’ investigators had tried to convince his former client, Gerardo Garcia, to join a class action against his firm, according to Rolling Stone.
And they’d allegedly offered Gerardo a lot of money to do so.
Jay-Z’s Victim Speaks Out
But what exactly was Jay-Z accused of doing in the lawsuit brought against him?
The now 38-year-old victim, who is choosing to remain anonymous, spoke to NBC News about what she claimed happened to her and about the inconsistencies in her story.
She shared that it was important to always fight, and that people should always advocate for themselves and be a voice for themselves.
She said: “You should never let what somebody else did ruin or run your life.“
The woman also added that she hoped she could give others the strength to come forward like she did.
Jay-Z And Diddy’s Accuser Reveal Details About Alleged Sexual Assault
She told NBC News that in 2000, she was living in Rochester, New York, and that it was her dream to go to the VMAs, so she snuck out of her house one night.
Her friend reportedly drove her to Radio City Music Hall where the event was being held that year.
She didn’t have a ticket so she tried to catch celebrities as they entered, and she watched some of the show on the jumbotron outside.
Then she began speaking to Limo drivers with hopes of finding a way to get into an after-party.
One of them allegedly told her that he worked for Diddy, and that she ‘fit’ what the rapper was looking for.
He ended up driving her to an after-party at a large white residence.
In the lawsuit, she said that she needed to sign a document, but she didn’t really read it.
Once inside, she supposedly began speaking to celebrities.
She named people like Fred Durst, Benji, and Joel Madden.
The woman alleged that she was offered a drink by a waitress but that she didn’t feel so good after drinking it.
She said: “I started feeling funny. Tried to start looking for a place to lay down.”
Eventually, she found an empty room and got onto the bed in it.
Moments later, Diddy, Jay-Z, and an unnamed female celebrity reportedly entered the room.
The victim claimed that Diddy told her that she was ‘ready to party.’
According to what she said in the lawsuit, Jay-Z then took off her clothes, put his hand over her mouth, and had his way with her while Diddy and the other woman just watched.
Then when he was done, Diddy and Jay-Z reportedly switched places and she was harmed once again.
After that, she said that she grabbed her clothes, got out of the house and ran to the nearest gas station.
A woman working at the gas station let her use the phone to call her dad and have him come and pick her up.
She said that they drove home in silence and he didn’t ask her any questions.
In her interview with NBC News, the victim also revealed that she got severely depressed afterward, her grades started slipping, and she ended up dropping out of school.
She also claimed that at one point, she even became homeless.
Is Jay-Z’s Accuser Lying?
Over the last few weeks, there have been some news reports about how not everything in her story adds up.
The woman’s father told NBC News that he didn’t have any recollection of going and picking his daughter up that night.
He said that he had a lot going on, but he felt like that would’ve been something that he would’ve remembered, especially since the journey would’ve taken around 5 hours.
The woman alleged that there were lots of things that her father didn’t remember from that time period when they lived in New York.
She said that it was due to personal issues he had.
Another thing that couldn’t have been true was the conversation she claimed that she had with Benji about his tattoo.
His representative said that Benji and Joel did not attend the 2000 VMAs – they were on tour in the Midwest at the time.
The victim said that the thing she remembered most from the party was the alleged incident itself, and that she couldn’t remember all the other people who she met there.
Jay-Z And Diddy’s Victim Admits: ‘So I Have Made Some Mistakes.’
She admitted: “So I have made some mistakes. I may have made a mistake in identifying.”
NBC News also verified that on the night in question, both Jay-Z and Diddy had been photographed at an after-party at the Lotus nightclub in New York City.
However, the time the photos were taken hasn’t been confirmed, and the news outlet added that the two rappers’ whereabouts hadn’t been tracked throughout the whole night.
In an email to NBC News, Tony wrote that his firm would continue to vet his client’s claims.
He alleged that they’d interrogated her intensely, and she’d even agreed to submit to a polygraph.
He added that he’d never had a client suggest that before.
