Teen Mom alum Kailyn Lowry plans to celebrate Christmas for the first time in five years.
“We haven’t celebrated Christmas in five or more years. Between years of fighting with my kids’ dads over holidays and my kids being fortunate with ‘things’ all year I gave up Christmas,” wrote the 31-year-old mom on Instagram.
“Their dads have big families and lots of cousins, so it just feels like the best option. I guess things will look a little different this year.”
Kailyn announced her plans to switch things up this year while sharing snippets of her three eldest sons and her boyfriend, Elijah Scott, admiring their Christmas tree at home.
This isn’t the first time that Kailyn discusses her approach to the holidays with fans.
Kailyn Has Explained Her Christmas Choice Several Times
Back in 2021, Kailyn said that she doesn’t buy her kids Christmas presents in an Instagram Q&A, according to The Daily Mail.
When asked whether she gets her dogs presents, she responded, “I don’t even get my kids Christmas presents.”
This revelation upset some Instagram viewers.
“Some of you are curious and some of you are really upset about this. Just know my kids are not going without. Let them have something they only do at their dads,” added Kailyn.
She also said that instead of gifts, she brings all her kids on a family vacation every summer.
“Every time I got the kids for Christmas my other family members were on opposite years with their families/kids & we started doing big vacations about 5 years ago,” she said.
“So Christmas can be with their dads & they don’t have to worry about splitting it.”
Kailyn also had the same conversation on TikTok.
“The most important reason I gave up Christmas was for my kids,” she told fans.
“It just constantly felt like it was an argument about who’s gonna get the kids, who’s gonna keep them, who’s gonna have Christmas Eve, who’s gonna have Christmas Day,” she said.
“And even though it’s in the custody order, we all want our kids for the holiday, I get it.”
She added that she wants her kids to experience Christmas with their dads since they do fun things for the holidays and all have really big families.

Kailyn is reportedly now a mom of 7. She shares 13-year-old Isaac with ex Jo Rivera, 10-year-old Lincoln with ex-husband Javi Marroquin, sons Lux, 5, and Creed, 2, with her ex Chris Lopez.
This year, she revealed the arrival of her son Rio, her first baby with boyfriend Elijah. Shortly after, she announced that she was pregnant with twins.
While the couple hasn’t publicly commented on the twins’ arrival, multiple outlets reported their birth in November.
According to The U.S. Sun, Kailyn asked her Instagram followers for gift ideas ahead of this year’s holiday season. “I told the kids we would do Christmas this year!” she shared in an Instagram Story. “Doing stockings – no big gifts – send all practical/meaningful stocking stuffers.”
