Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Charles Spencer, has decided to speak out on Kate Middleton’s recent controversy. Recently, the Princess of Wales received criticism about her Mother’s Day photoshop scandal.
Some of the criticism has even fed into some wild conspiracy theories about Kate, including speculation about her health. Now, Earl has shared his view on the royal blunder in an interview with the BBC.

He was asked by interviewer Laura Kuenssberg about the potential dangers of conspiracy theories spreading online, and if they were worse now than they were when his sister was alive. However, Laura might not have got the answer she was expecting.
Earl said the press intrusion he and Diana fought decades ago was more dangerous than what Kate is going through. He went on to recall his sister’s tragic passing in 1997.
Earl said that the circumstances surrounding her loss were so shocking that it changed how paparazzi thought about what they could and couldn’t do. But he stressed that he didn’t think this was because the industry had become more morally conscious about its behavior.
Instead, Earl said the public had started to think the way the press could invade people’s lives was unacceptable. He went on to admit, however, that he was still “worried about the truth.”
Kate’s Edited Photo Fueled the Consipracies
This has been at the root of a lot of scrutiny and crazy accusations aimed at the royal family lately. Earl explained that the kind of attention and harassment aimed at Kate is similar to what his sister went through.
The most recent conspiracy started earlier this year. It was announced that Kate had undergone surgery.
Since then, there have been multiple updates about her recovery. However, some groups online have decided that something else must be going on.

Kate made headlines for photoshopping her Mother’s Day picture, which showed her with her three children. The edited picture fuelled the speculation among conspiracy theorists that Kate’s real whereabouts were being kept a secret.
After news got out that the picture was photoshopped, Kate quickly apologized. She stated that she had only done what plenty of other “amateur photographers” do all the time.
The persistence of online rumors could be proof that Earl is right to be worried about the truth when it comes to the online world. The Sunday Times has reported that Kate is expected to return to making public appearances after April 17.

A source told the newspaper that people should remember that Kate “is not a show pony.” The source went on to say that Kate and her husband Prince William are right not to be drawn into a “game about what is going on with her health.”
It’s absolutely correct to say that Kate’s well-being is a private matter that should not be speculated about so recklessly. But after the revelations about her altered pictures, it seems unlikely that the doubters are going to be satisfied anytime soon.
