Ryan was so much better than Maci and had no problem inviting him and Amanda to celebrate Easter with her, their son Bentley, and Maci’s husband Taylor McKinney.
She explained to Us Weekly that she felt like Ryan and their son “are in a really good place”.
She went on to admit that while she had always hoped for Ryan to make improvements, it wasn’t always necessarily what she expected.
She explained that “hope and expectations were two different things”
However, in the last year or so, her expectations for Ryan have increased as she’s seen how well he’s been doing.
And she admitted that it was “really nice” to finally be able to have the family “in one spot”, for the sake of Bentley.
Maci Shared Her Thoughts and Promoted the New Season of Teen Mom: Family Reunion
Maci was sharing her thoughts with Us Weekly while promoting the new season of Teen Mom: Family Reunion.
In previous Teen Mom seasons, viewers have witnessed Ryan’s struggle with addiction and the impact this had on his role as a father.
Maci shared her gratitude that through it all, her husband Taylor was able to be a father figure for Bentley in Ryan’s absence.
Maci Said Her Husband, Taylor: ‘Provides a Constant for Bentley and Me’
She told Us Weekly that Taylor “provides a constant for Bentley and me.”
She added that she didn’t think her son would “have the courage to really keep pursuing and stay hopeful in certain situations” without Taylor.
Maci also shared her pride in how her son has dealt with everything he has experienced since he was young.
She said, “Even through the rough times he’s been through in his life with Ryan and all that, he’s always just kind of handled himself accordingly”
However, this didn’t mean that Maci didn’t worry about what her son might get up to while she filmed the newest Teen Mom season.
Maci, Taylor and their co-stars all traveled to Colombia to film the show.
With Bentley back home alone, Maci couldn’t help but think about what he might get up to.
She said, “Being gone for Family Reunion, it was one of those like, ‘Oh my god. It’s his freshman year of high school… I hope everything is going to be okay.’”
But the positive strides Ryan’s making and the effect it’s having on their relationship might mean Maci will be able to rely on him more.
