In September 2023, People magazine revealed that Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins had filed for divorce from Jeannie.
The legal documents stated that there was no hope for the former couple to reconcile their marriage, which was listed as “irretrievably broken.”

For about a month after the divorce news broke, Jeannie stayed extremely quiet.
She didn’t even post on social media.

But in the middle of October, she broke her silence when she shared a quote on her Instagram that read: “Sometimes, you need to take a break and disconnect to heal.”
At the time, Jeannie’s post about healing didn’t seem all that strange, considering breakups are almost always emotionally draining.
But when she finally responded to Jeezy’s divorce petition, what she had to say was absolutely crazy.
Jeannie Suspected Jeezy Cheated on Her During Their Marriage
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Jeannie filed paperwork on November 30th that strongly suggested Jeezy had cheated on her during their marriage.

In her filing, she asked the court to enforce the infidelity clause in their prenup, which stated there would be major financial consequences for either party that had been unfaithful.
A few days later, a rep for Jeezy released a statement to Us Weekly.
The spokesperson claimed there was no truth to Jeannie’s cheating allegations and denied that Jeezy had ever been unfaithful during their marriage.
It seemed like their divorce battle couldn’t get any more intense, but what happened just two days later was seriously shocking.
E! News reported that Jeannie dropped a bombshell revelation when she made a guest appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show last December.
Jeannie Found Out About Divorce ‘At the Same Time as the Rest of the World’
She explained that when Jeezy announced that their marriage was over and that he had filed for divorce, she was completely blindsided.
Believe it or not, Jeannie found out about the divorce “at the same time as the rest of the world,” which left her feeling absolutely crushed.
She added that even though she was still in the process of healing emotionally, she had discovered an unexpected silver lining.
Jeannie confessed that she had met the strongest version of herself, as a result of coping with the pain of her divorce.
She credited her strength to being a mother to “the best blessing,” Monaco, the daughter she and Jeezy welcomed in January 2022.
Jezzy and Jeannie’s Parenting and Custody Legal Battle
However, Jeezy and Jeannie’s split also resulted in a legal battle over parenting time and custody.
According to People magazine, Jeezy filed paperwork with the court that asked the judge to schedule a custody hearing. But his reason for the request was truly bizarre.
In Jeezy’s filing, he accused Jeannie of gatekeeping their daughter and his ability to have equal parenting time with her.
He claimed that “the lack of consistency” with visitation and the tension from the divorce had been stressing Monaco out and making her feel confused.

Jeezy also asked the court to set clear custody rights and a structured schedule for parenting time.
But it wasn’t long before Jeannie fired back at his accusation with her own filing.
What the legal documents obtained by Radar Online revealed about her response was honestly unbelievable.
Jeannie denied Jeezy’s claim that she had been interfering with his parenting time.
She explained that she had granted all of his requests to see Monaco and had even given him extra time with her over the holidays.
But that wasn’t all.
Radar Online also reported that Jeannie asked the court to deny Jeezy’s request for a public custody hearing.
Instead, she requested that the judge schedule mediation, so that she and Jeezy could negotiate the details regarding custody and visitation out of the public eye.
Jeannie added that she wanted to keep the majority of the custody details private for Monaco’s well-being.
But she and her lawyers also made a request in the filing that was centered around some alarming safety issues.
Jeannie and her legal team asked Jeezy to “safely secure and lock away all firearms,” out of concern for their daughter’s safety.
They also requested that any caregivers he hired to help with Monaco be “properly trained.”
Jeezy and Jeannie’s Unreal and Insane Court Filings
Not surprisingly, Jeezy responded with yet another court filing at the end of December, and the reason why was seriously insane.
According to paperwork obtained by Radar Online, Jeezy asked the judge to enforce the prenup he and Jeannie signed the day before they got married in 2021.
He claimed that she had agreed to all of the conditions, including those about the division of their finances and belongings.
But what happened next was absolutely unreal.
About a month later, an article published by Radar Online revealed that Jeannie filed court documents that asked the judge to either deny Jeezy’s request or delay enforcing their prenup.
She explained that he had asked her to sign the agreement just days before their wedding, and she barely had time to look over the conditions.
Jeannie claimed that the documents Jeezy showed her before they got married weren’t enough to actually prove the extent of his earnings.
She doubted the accuracy of their prenup because of that and requested that the judge wait to make a decision until her lawyers could look further into his finances.
Oddly enough, Jeezy’s next move was an attempt to keep his information private, especially regarding his finances.
In February, Radar Online reported that he had asked the judge to seal the divorce records from the public, but mainly his personal details and any information related to Monaco.
Jeezy Explained His Relationship With Jeannie was More Strained Than Ever
Jeezy explained that because of the divorce battle, his relationship with Jeannie was more strained than ever.
He believed that was partially due to the intense media focus on their court case, which was another reason why he wanted their divorce records to be kept private.
Interestingly, Jeezy’s request was filed less than two weeks before he and Jeannie were scheduled to appear in court to discuss their prenup and custody details.
She seemed to think that something about his filing was suspicious, and she made that clear in a pretty bizarre way.
According to paperwork obtained by Radar Online, Jeannie asked the judge to deny Jeezy’s request.
She believed that the reasoning behind his attempt to have their divorce records sealed six months into their court case didn’t make any sense.
In her filing, Jeannie added that because she and Jeezy are both public figures, he should have known that the media attention on their divorce would be significant.
She said that his motion to keep their public records private was “unnecessary and unwarranted.”
Jeannie also claimed that the timing of Jeezy’s request made her question his intentions.
But that’s not the only thing that he’s done lately that’s seemed a little strange.
Jeezy Asked the Judge to Disqualify Jeannie’s Lawyers, Then Withdrew Motion
Only a few days after the former couple’s initial court hearing on March 1st, Jeezy asked the judge to disqualify Jeannie’s lawyers.
A separate report from Radar Online exposed why he had a problem with her legal team, and his reason was unbelievable.
It turns out that Jeezy’s main complaint was that the attorneys Jeannie had hired to represent her in their divorce were the same lawyers she used to look over their prenup.
Since her legal team agreed to the conditions before she signed it, he didn’t think they should be able to help her fight it.
But what happened next was incredibly surprising.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Jeezy withdrew his motion.
He even admitted that Jeannie had chosen a great legal team to represent her.
Whether or not his decision means the rest of their divorce hearings will go smoothly is up in the air, though, since the case is still ongoing.
