Bunnie XO’s dad, Bill, has died after a tragic year-long battle with cancer. She shared the news on Instagram on May 8th, writing:
“Hey Bill, I’m going to miss you. You are still my favorite rock star & my hero. This one’s going hurt.”
The news is especially devastating as Bunnie was raised by her dad only and was extremely close with him throughout her life. In May of 2023, Bunnie had him as a guest on her podcast, Dumb Blonde, where they discussed what she was like as a child and memories that they had from when she was growing up.

Just a few months later, Bunnie revealed that her dad had been secretly dealing with Stage 4 cancer for a year by that point. He specifically never told any of his children, and instead kept it between himself and his wife while he privately battled the cancer using holistic remedies.
Bunnie XO and Jelly Roll Took Over Bill’s Care
He finally told his kids when the cancer moved into his bone marrow. It was then that Bunnie moved him from Houston to Nashville, where she and Jelly Roll live.
She also got him a new medical team in hopes of beating his cancer. At the time, Jelly Roll shared an update about how his father-in-law was doing, saying:
“Bunnie’s dad’s doing well. He’s sick. I hate to say it this honestly — he’s clearly in what is obviously the last phase of his life. But he’s doing a lot better now that he’s here. Bunnie moved him here. She’s getting him all kinds of help, a new chain of doctors … she’s got enough resources to do a lot to try to help him.”
Bunnie also shared videos of her dad fighting in the hospital. However, in November, she shared a devastating update– that he had been moved to hospice and was running out of options for treatment.
Bill Had Hip Replacement Surgery In February
But then it seemed like things might be looking up in February. Bunnie shared that Bill had undergone a hip replacement surgery. And this was a pretty big deal, considering how bleak things had been just a few months prior.
Everyone was relieved that he was doing well enough and felt strong enough to go through a hip replacement surgery. And he seemed to be doing well with it.
In the video, it was obvious that Bill had lost a startling amount of weight from his cancer, but he seemed to be in good spirits as he rolled around in his wheelchair. He told Bunnie and his wife that he was even hoping to get back on a motorcycle soon.
Then, a few weeks later, Jelly Roll melted the hearts of his fans when Bunnie posted a video of Jelly and Bill. In the video, posted in early March, Jelly Roll approached Bill from behind and kissed him on the head. When Bill realized who it was, he reached for his hand and asked how his son was, showing their close relationship.
Bill spoke proudly of both Jelly Roll and Bunnie on her podcast, and she and her dad were incredibly close.
