Adrienne Bailon revealed that she spent over $1 million to have her son with her husband, Israel Houghton.
During an interview with People Magazine, Adrienne said that they had exhausted all other possibilities to try and become pregnant.
Adrienne’s Motherhood Journey
Her journey to motherhood started six years ago.
Adrienne remembered thinking at the start of her journey that it would be easy.
In her mind, she still felt like she was the 19-year-old Cheetah Girl.
Once she and her husband started having problems becoming pregnant, she began to realize that although she felt young, that didn’t mean certain parts of her body were still young.
Her ovaries, in particular, weren’t as young as she felt.
She was a woman in her mid-thirties, after all.
Since becoming pregnant wasn’t happening traditionally, she and her husband started fertility treatments.
She began with IUIs and hormonal injections to try and make her ovaries more fertile, but nothing seemed to work.
The hormones affected her body all the same in ways she didn’t particularly enjoy.
Viewers Commented on Adrienne’s Appearance
Viewers of The Real, which she hosts, also commented on her appearance while she was taking fertility treatments.
Adrienne commented on what viewers were saying about her appearance on an episode of The Real in 2018.
She said that she was aware that a lot of viewers were talking about how her face looked bigger and her body was bigger, so she must finally have been pregnant.
Adrienne said that she’d always had a chubbier face and that the viewers needed to be more sensitive about the topic of pregnancy.
She wasn’t pregnant despite looking like she might be in the beginning stages of pregnancy.
The comments made her feel even more sensitive about the fact that her fertility treatments weren’t working.
Adrienne’s Miscarriages Caused Her a Great Deal of Pain
Adrienne also had a number of heartbreaks through her journey to motherhood.
She experienced miscarriages throughout the years, causing a great deal of pain for her and her family.
Since less intensive treatments weren’t working, Adrienne tried IVF instead.
She did eight cycles of it, but none of those worked either.
Altogether, Adrienne said that she and Israel spent over a million dollars trying to have a baby.
She also said that she was aware that it wasn’t possible for most Americans to spend that amount.
For the average person, she explained, that amount isn’t realistic.
Surrogate Success for Adrienne
When IVF wasn’t working either, the couple made the choice to try and have a baby via surrogate instead.

This time, things finally worked out.
They kept the pregnancy a secret until their son, Ever James, was finally born.

Adrienne announced the birth of her son through Instagram and said that he was worth everything.
She went into detail, saying that he was worth every tear, prayer, disappointment, IVF cycle, and miscarriage.
The family has focused on spending time together and bonding with Adrienne sharing a few of their adventures on Instagram.
One example is the couple and their son dressed up in 1920s clothes while they were attending a Murder Mystery party.
Other pictures show Adrienne feeding Ever or watching him play.

Adrienne said that she feels like a zero-year-old again since she’s re-discovering the world through her son’s eyes.
Even a million dollars out, Ever is clearly priceless to his mom and dad.
