In 2022, during the season 14 premiere of Alaskan Bush People, one of the family members, Snowbird Brown, was dealing with a serious health issue. In the episode, text on the screen stated that Snowbird had been experiencing severe abdominal pain, which needed to be addressed immediately.
Snowbird admitted in a confessional that at first, she didn’t even want to go to the doctor because she didn’t want to have her blood taken. When her pain became so much that she ended up on the floor, her sister Rain Brown said that she didn’t care about Snowbird’s feelings at that point and took her to the doctor.

She was diagnosed with two tumors that needed to be removed immediately with surgery. The doctors even feared that they may be cancerous.
The news was a devastating blow for Snowbird and the Brown family, but luckily, the surgery was a success. Once the surgery was over, the show revealed that she had two tumors removed from her ovaries with one weighing eight pounds and the other weighing four.

Despite that, the doctor informed Snowbird that she actually didn’t have cancer. But the doctors also told her that there was more than an eighty percent chance of the tumors coming back and being cancerous in the future.
This news meant that Snowbird had a difficult decision ahead of her which could affect her ability to have children. During one episode of season 14, she talked about how the decision could change her life forever. Especially since she learned that one of the only ways to decrease the chances of the tumors coming back would be to have her uterus removed entirely.
Snowbird Is Still Fighting
However, one year later, in May 2023, Snowbird took to Instagram to share that the tumors hadn’t come back yet and that she was fighting as much as she could. She wrote: “It was a hard fight and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t scary but it’s a fight I didn’t do alone… it’s a fight that isn’t over yet, but one thing I know is with faith and family anything is possible.” In response to the post, her mother Ami Brown took the chance to tell her how brave Snowbird was on the day of her surgery and how proud she was of her daughter.

Months later, in October 2023, Snowbird gave an update on her health on Instagram and explained that she gets regular blood tests and lab work done. She even said that she underwent a couple of biopsies following the surgery because she had some fluid building up in her scar tissue.
After taking a look at it, the doctors said that they did find something there, but they weren’t exactly sure what it was. Snowbird said that the doctors originally thought she had endometriosis, but it turns out that wasn’t the case, so now they’re not sure what’s causing the excess fluid.
While she is still dealing with these health issues today, she has certainly fully recovered from her initial surgery. It’s still unknown what she will decide to do to prevent the tumors from coming back, but for now, it looks like she’s trying her hardest to be on top of it.
