The Tragedy of Brandy Norwood

Brandy Norwood has been through a lot in her life. For all the success and achievements she’s had, she has also faced some terrible tragedies and dark times.

Brandy’s prime was in the 1990s. As a young teenager, she released her first album in 1994 and sold 6 million copies. 

She became an international sensation when she starred in her own TV sitcom, Moesha. Her 1998 song, The Boy Is Mine, even won her a Grammy award.

But things changed for her in the early 2000s. Stuff started happening in her personal life that went on to negatively affect her career.

Big Bert Changed Brandy’s Life

In 2001, Brandy met someone who ended up changing her life in more ways than one. The People Who Share reported that she started a relationship with music producer Robert “Big Bert” Smith.

About a year later, there was speculation that Brandy was pregnant. She went on the Oprah Winfrey Show with her mom. When the TV show host brought up the rumor, Brandy confirmed that she was in fact with child.

Then, she went on to reveal something else that shocked everyone watching. She said that she and Robert had secretly gotten married in the summer of 2001. 

Brandy gave birth to her daughter Sy’Rai in June 2002. For a while, it looked like things were going well in Brandy’s life, but everything was about to change for her. The report by The People Who Share revealed that Brandy announced that she’d gotten a divorce from Robert a year after their daughter’s birth.

But there was another secret about their relationship that Robert did not want to keep from the public. According to People Magazine, he went on Wendy Williams’ radio show, Moment of Truth, to let the world know what really went down between him and Brandy.

In the interview, he dropped a bombshell that would forever change his ex’s reputation. He claimed that he never got married to her. It was supposedly something that Brandy’s mom and manager, Sonja Norwood, had just made up with her PR team to protect the star’s image.

Brandy Regrets Lying About Her Marriage

Entertainment Weekly revealed that Brandy released a statement saying how disappointed she was with her ex, but at the same time she didn’t exactly deny what he said. It wasn’t until years later that the R&B singer opened up about the shocking incident in a VH1 Behind The Music special, per Our History.

When she first found out that she was pregnant at 23, she said that she knew it wasn’t good news for her brand.

She was raised with a Christian foundation, so she knew it was a sin to get pregnant out of wedlock. She was scared and didn’t know what to do.

Brandy claimed that everyone around her was trying to force her to get married, but she didn’t want to. So, she suggested that they just tell everyone that she had already gotten married..

She confessed that it was the biggest mistake she’d ever made. Brandy said that the lie about being married was the fall of her career. 

But things got even worse for her in 2006. She was involved in a freak accident that would haunt her for the rest of her life.

Sy’Rai Saved Brandy

A report by NBC News revealed that while driving on a Los Angeles freeway, her car collided into the one in front of her. The accident led to the other driver being hospitalized. The driver, a woman named Awatef Aboudihaj, never recovered from her injuries and passed away. 

TMZ claimed that according to law enforcement officials, Brandy, who was 27 at the time, hadn’t noticed the vehicles ahead of her had slowed down. Lawyers that Awatef’s family hired alleged that Brandy had been driving recklessly.

For years after the tragic incident, Brandy was hit with lawsuits by Awatef’s parents, her husband, her children and by two other drivers who’d been involved in the crash. She reportedly settled all of them out of court. 

US Weekly released a report which said that Brandy was never charged with vehicular manslaughter, as there was insufficient evidence. But, she confessed that it was a situation that changed her life forever.

In a 2020 interview with People Magazine, Brandy got really honest about how brutal that period of her life was. She reportedly contemplated taking her own life at one point. 

She shared that she remembered laying in bed feeling super depressed. She’d ask herself if that was really the way her life was going to end.

Fortunately, she had someone who was worth living for: her daughter Sy’Rai. She reportedly understood that if she couldn’t go on for herself, then she needed to go on for her daughter.

She told People, “If Sy’rai wasn’t here, I wouldn’t be either. The place that I was in, it just felt like I wasn’t going to make it through.”

Brandy Sued Her Record Label

As difficult as things were for Brandy in her personal life, they reportedly weren’t going that much better for her in professional life either. In 2011, she signed with Chameleon Entertainment with the agreement that she would produce five albums with them. 

However a 2016 report by TMZ revealed that Brandy was unhappy with her contract with the record label, claiming it was like a ball and chain. She filed a lawsuit against them in which she listed all the ways that she felt she’d been done wrong by the company. 

The R&B star alleged that Chameleon Entertainment promised that she’d have hundreds of thousands of dollars to use for production costs when making her albums. But she said that after they produced her first album, that amount decreased. 

Chameleon Entertainment Allegedly Tried to End Brandy’s Career

Surprisingly, the lawsuit went on to claim that the record label even tried to stop her from recording new music. She argued that this was something that would damage her career.

It reportedly was an unlawful attempt to bully Brandy into signing a new recording and distribution agreement containing terms far worse than her current agreement. Brandy told Billboard that she was as free in her mind, but on paper, it looked like she was a slave.

She said, “I’m not a slave. The kind of deal I’m signed to should be criminal to any artist.”

Her goal with the lawsuit was to get out of her contract and also to get thousands of dollars that she alleged that the company owed her for pay or play fees.

A rep for Chameleon Entertainment clapped back at her. They told TMZ that they’d taken a risk by signing an artist who hadn’t had a chart single success since the early 2000’s. They also claimed that Brandy’s accusations were her way of trying to make publicity for herself, instead of just accepting that her best days were behind her. 

According to The Jasmine Brand,  Brandy and her record label reached a settlement in 2017. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the last lawsuit that she got caught up in. 

Brandy’s Housekeeper Tried to Expose Her

In March 2022, People Magazine reported on a controversial story about how Brandy’s former housekeeper was suing her for $250,000. The 60-year-old housekeeper, Maria Elizabeth Castaneda, filed the lawsuit against Brandy over wrongful termination and for violating state labor laws. 

She alleged that she’d been fired because of her age. She also claimed that Brandy was interested in hiring someone younger to work for her. According to the court documents obtained by People, Maria had been her housekeeper for almost twenty years.

What was most shocking was the allegation that Brandy had violated California state labor laws. The documents claimed that she treated Maria unfairly, paying her less than minimum wage, not paying her during rest and meal periods, giving her issues with working overtime, and providing inaccurate wage statements.

Obviously, the appalling story of mistreatment did not make Brandy look good. So, what did she have to say in her defense?

Radar Online got hold of court documents which revealed that Brandy had denied the accusations against her. She alleged that it wasn’t true that she didn’t pay Maria proper wages or allow her to have breaks.

The singer’s lawyer argued that her client wasn’t liable for age discrimination or failure to prevent discrimination because she didn’t regularly employ five people. The attorney also claimed that Maria wasn’t fired, she quit her position voluntarily.

She said, “Maria was never an employee and she decided to cease performing services.” In November 2022, an article by The LA Times revealed that Brandy reached a settlement with her former housekeeper and agreed to pay her $40,000. 

What Happened To Paula Deen

Cancel culture is everywhere now, but 11 years ago, it was a relatively new thing. So, it was shocking when Paula Deen and her Food Network series was canceled after her use of racial epithets. During a court deposition when she was accused of racial and sexual discrimination by a former employee, Paula admitted to using the N-word. Once that admission went viral, despite the case being dismissed, she lost everything.

Food Network wasn’t the only company to cancel its contract with her. She lost her deals with Walmart, Sears, and more. Where is she now after 11 years?

Paula Deen Got Her Shows Back

Paula continued to work, albeit not on the Food Network. It did take some time to find her footing, as News Week reports that she didn’t have anything to fall back on after all her contracts were canceled. She originally had a $17 million fortune, but ended up filing for bankruptcy as she restarted her life and career.

She managed to buy back her Food Network shows, and she put them all on her own Paula Deen Network instead. Then in 2015, she launched her own podcast called What’s Cooking with Paula Deen. That was followed by a radio show and a mobile game.

Not all networks outright canceled her. In 2015, Paula returned to TV by being one of the celebrity dancers on Dancing with the Stars, where she came ninth with Louis Van Amstel. After that, she launched Positively Paula and Sweet Home Savannah with the latter being a live show. The former is now a nationally syndicated show, where she welcomes fans into her home to hear stories as well as learn more cooking tips.

Fox Nation Gave Paula Deen a Home

Paula then moved on to another network, Fox Nation. She landed a series called At Home with Paula Deen and made multiple appearances on Fox and Friends, a Fox News morning show. She was even invited on Masterchef to be a guest judge for an episode.

With this, she was able to keep her magazine going. She’s released multiple cookbooks, including At the Southern Table with Paula Deen and Paula Deen Cuts the Fat: 250 Favorite Recipes All Lightened Up. Her most recent book is Love & Best Dishes, which is her 20th published cookbook.

She even went into the restaurant business, with locations around numerous southern states. Some locations have since closed, although it’s not clear why. One of her restaurants is a grab-and-go place called The Chicken Box in Savannah, Georgia.

Paula Deen Still Posted Controversial Posts

That hasn’t prevented more controversy. In 2017, Paula shared a photo of herself dressed as Lucy from I Love Lucy. Her son, Bobby, was dressed up as Ricky, using skin-darkening makeup to look the part. This led to an outcry on social media, and Paula quickly blamed her social media manager for the post. Paul quickly apologized for the image being shared.

That hasn’t stopped her from sharing videos on YouTube. She shares a mixture of vintage and new videos on her own channel, giving fans a taste of the South.

What Happened to Pioneer Woman

The Pioneer Woman was a mainstay on Food Network, but she’s been relatively quiet the last couple of years. Her husband was in a pretty bad accident back in 2021, which took its toll on the couple Then, this year she reported that her husband was in rough shape from a long summer on the farm. The family also made a big move out of their longtime home. 

Life on the Farm

The Pioneer Woman’s real name is Ree Drummond and she lives on a ranch with her husband Ladd and their kids. While she plays up the homemaker persona, there is actually a lot more going on behind the scenes. 

Ladd is related to a long line of ranchers in Oklahoma. In total, the family owns nearly 500,000 acres, making them one of the largest private landowners in the United States.

While The Pioneer Woman may appear to be the breadwinner in the family, the truth is her husband has an insane amount of wealth. With that said, Ree is certainly not struggling for money as her business ventures are very profitable.

With all that fame and fortune, Ree and her husband could easily ride off into the sunset and never work a day for the rest of their lives. However, the two don’t look like they have any plans to retire soon.

Things for the family took a major turn back in 2021 when Ladd and his nephew were in a head-on collision with two fire trucks. The vehicle Ladd was in didn’t have adequate frontal impact protection and the wreck crushed the front of the vehicle into the cab. 

Ree detailed in a post on her site that Ladd was airlifted to a hospital and underwent surgery for a broken neck. The injury was a major setback for life on the farm as Ladd had a lengthy recovery. Not only did the accident affect life on the farm, but it also had a minor impact on Ree’s film schedule.

A Life of Fame

The same year as her husband’s wreck, Ree and the family moved into a new home. They built a new house right next door to their old one, but a bit smaller. It was essentially a guest house for the aging farmhouse next door. Ree reported their home had foundation problems and that it wasn’t as charming as some would think. 

While the Drummond family has gone through a lot of changes in recent years, their popularity certainly isn’t what it once was. 

The Pioneer Woman has been called out by many viewers for leading a fake lifestyle. Some even claim that the show perpetuates a narrative that women should only be in the kitchen while the man is working. 

Clearly, that isn’t the case, but it is a stereotype the show and many articles play into. The Pioneer Woman is not the strong brand that it once was, but Ree Drummond is far from irrelevant in the cooking world. 

Inside Kody and Robyn’s House

The women of Sister Wives have lived a very public life alongside their husband Kody. Now that the wives have all gone their separate ways we have the unique opportunity to see behind the camera. Kody and Robyn recently put their home up for sale, marking the end of a major chapter. Putting their house on the market gives us a look inside the areas that TV cameras rarely capture. 

An Inside Look

Listing photos of Kody and Robyn’s house give a unique perspective of the sprawling estate. It is nearly 4,500 sqft and includes five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Additionally, the home has plenty of amenities like walk-in closets, a giant pantry, and an unforgettable view. 

Another thing that is unforgettable is the home’s price tag. It is listed at $1.65 million and has been on the market since the end of August. Considering it is still available and not even under contract could indicate it is overpriced. 

Taking a closer look at the home itself, the small foyer opens up into the open kitchen, living, and dining room. There is also a walk-in pantry just off the kitchen. 

Taking a left from the foyer is a hallway leading to the master’s suite and bedroom. The staircase to the lower level is also located next to the hallway. Each bedroom has an attached bathroom and the master suite has four closets. 

Moving downstairs, a hallway connects to the garage on the left and a bedroom. Proceeding to the right down the hallway are two bedrooms that share a Jack and Jill bathroom. At the end is a family room with panoramic views. 

The Finer Details

The most impressive part of the house has to be the view, but more on that later. As for features, the home’s kitchen is beautiful with granite countertops and a solid wood raised bartop. The kitchen also includes commercial-grade appliances, which do stay with the house. 

The pantry also has a nice countertop and cabinetry that matches the kitchen. One of the strange things about the house is its lack of a formal dining space.

The living area is also a little wonky thanks to an oddly designed entertainment center that was clearly designed before big-screen TVs. 

The master suite certainly makes up for some of those shortcomings with its ample closet space and access to the back deck with a view of the mountains. The front yard is also uninspiring as the home looks rather modest. Fortunately, the views make up for the lackluster landscaping. 

Listing the home for sale raises a lot of questions about the status of Kody and Robyn’s relationship. The two were still together when last seen on Sister Wives. However, the new season appears to have some bombshell revelations. 

Robyn has lived in the home since 2019 with her five children, and Kody lives there as well. The fact that the home is for sale may indicate that the two are also splitting up, or it could signal possible financial problems.

Brandy has always been involved in controversies. Whether it was her ongoing feud with fellow R&B queen, Monica, or the shocking tragedy of when she crashed into a woman on the 405 Freeway in 2006, Brandy just seems to have a way of making front-page news, especially with her love life.

Brandy Shared Her Marriage Announcement on Oprah

A report by The People Who Share revealed that in 2001, Brandy began dating Robert, or Big Bert as he was sometimes called back then. The following year she appeared on an episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show with her mom.

They talked about the intense speculation going on at the time that she could be pregnant. When Oprah brought up the rumor, Brandy confirmed that she was actually expecting.

Brandy Insisted That the Two Had a “Spiritual Union”

How did Brandy react to the bombshell that her ex shared with the world? The funny thing is that she didn’t deny what he said.

At the same time, she made it clear that she wasn’t happy that he’d gone and told everyone. Robert went on Wendy’s show just a month after the R&B singer had released her 4th album, Afrodisiac. 

EW revealed that Brandy released a statement in which she talked about how appalled she was with her ex. She alleged that he was trying to destroy her reputation while using both her and their daughter to get publicity and radio airplay for his artists. Brandy said, “I am stunned that he is being so dirty about it.”

She went on to claim that although it might not have been a legal marriage, they had a spiritual union and a true commitment to each other.

Then, Brandy pointed out that they still shared a common bond through their daughter, Sy’rai Smith. She argued that he was not thinking about her, or about Brandy, or what they had together.

Robert chose to address some of the things his baby mama had said by releasing his own statement. He stated that he wasn’t trying to get out of his responsibilities for taking care of his daughter. He and Brandy had joint custody of her.

Robert explained that when breaking off relationships it was always difficult. He preferred not to air their dirty laundry through the media. “I was just stating the TRUTH,” he said. 

Robert went on to share that he and Brandy had many things to work out and would hopefully head in a more positive direction.

Brandy Finally Came Clean

Years after this came out, Brandy went back on to the Oprah Winfrey Show and admitted that she had lied the last time she was on the program. She claimed that it was for the same reasons that Robert had mentioned. She was pregnant and unmarried, and she was concerned about how that would affect her public image and career.

According to People Magazine, Brandy and her daughter have a great relationship. The singer opened up to the outlet about how much she enjoys being a mom. She said, “My favorite thing about motherhood is seeing myself in my daughter and seeing each other in each other.”

She explained that their personalities were the same. They reportedly share so much of the same likes. Sy’rai loves music, and Brandy said she just loved seeing her grow into her own artist.

Now in her early 20s, Sy’rai is following in her mom’s footsteps and making her own music. She collaborated with Brandy for a song called High Heels, on her 7th studio album, B7, which came out in 2020. In 2023, the young artist released her first official solo single titled On My Own.

People claimed that Sy’Rai also has a strong relationship with her father and that she gets along well with her stepmother and her five half-siblings. She often appears with them in many of the photos posted by Robert and his wife on their social media.

In a 2008 interview with Vibe magazine, Sy’Rai’s dad said that his relationship with Brandy was much better than it was in the past. He said: “You can’t be so mad at somebody who gave you that kind of a gift”

Robert went on to share that at the end of the day, he and his ex had a beautiful child, and he was the happiest man on earth. That was really the logistics of it. There was no drama.

Will Nelly Go to Jail?

Just how much trouble is rapper Nelly really in? Right now, everything is still very much up in the air as to whether or not he’ll face serious consequences for his most recent arrest. In fact, there’s still some disagreement about what he was actually arrested for. 

Here’s everything we know right now.

On August 7, Nelly was arrested just outside St. Louis around 5 am. According to The Shade Room, the rapper was taken into custody and charged with possession of illegal substances. He also faced charges related to having no insurance.

The situation was explained by the police in a statement that mentioned that Nelly was also arrested for Failure to Appear on an old traffic charge. Nelly’s attorney came to his client’s defense soon after the scandal hit headlines.

The lawyer, Scott Rosenblum, spoke to TMZ to dispel rumors that Nelly had been charged with illegal substance possession. He also went on to make some serious claims about the officers who took Nelly to jail. Scott alleged that Nelly had been targeted by an out-of-line officer who was just being overzealous.

To some, it looked like Nelly’s legal team wanted to downplay just how serious the arrest was. However, many still believed that illegal substances were somehow involved.

The Sun reported that Nelly seemed glassy-eyed in his police mug shot. He was also smiling a little bit, which made some people think that he might’ve been under the influence.

Nelly’s Lawyer Doesn’t Expect the Cas to Go Anywhere

With so much mystery and disagreement about what Nelly was really arrested for, the question of whether or not he’ll do jail time looks uncertain right now. His lawyer, however, has stated that he is certain that the case will not proceed to court.

Scott said that he was “100% confident” that this case would “go nowhere.” He added, “And we will be asking for an inquiry into this officer’s conduct.”

The attorney explained that the officer’s pursuit of Nelly for no proof of insurance was way too much. He claimed that any other citizen in Nelly’s situation, who had an old warrant without being served notice, would have been told to resolve the issue and sent on their way. 

It was also noted that because Nelly is required to travel internationally for his work, he regularly has to provide proof of no outstanding warrants. According to his lawyer, this even includes FBI checks, and it was stated that Nelly had no warrants. This was why the rapper’s legal team stated they were sure he would not be further punished. 

However, if the case does continue against the lawyer’s expectations, Nelly’s shady past might come back to haunt him. We could see him face a bigger punishment than anyone has predicted. 

Nelly’s Tour Bus Was Stopped in 2015

In December 2015, Nelly pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possession and was sentenced to one-year probation. What’s shocking about this conviction is how just much worse things could have been for him back then. This is because the charge he was convicted of was in connection with a really crazy arrest. 

In April 2015, he was taken in on felony charges following a police search of his tour bus. The bus was pulled over by the Tennessee Highway Patrol after the cops noticed it was missing 2 required stickers, but what they noticed once they got on the bus was much more of a shock.

The first thing they noticed was a very distinctive smell from the bus. They went on to find illegal substances and equipment, as well as 100 small Ziploc bags.

A law enforcement rep later said that these were commonly associated with the sale of substances. This made the discovery a much more serious matter.

Then, things got even crazier. The police also found numerous firearms on the tour bus. One of which was a gold-plated firearm.

Nelly and one of his associates were charged and taken to County Jail. There were 4 other men on board, but they were not charged.

Nelly Refused to Take the Blame

Soon after the news of the arrest went public, Nelly’s attorney released a statement. He said that they were all very confident that Nelly wouldn’t be associated with the items that were discovered on the bus.

Not long after that, Nelly also released his own statement. In it, he said very similar things to what his lawyer stated.

He claimed that he felt that he needed to take responsibility for his choices. He followed this by saying that he also needed to be more aware of all the people he associated with and allowed onto his property.

It looked pretty clear what the rapper was trying to say. Nelly was pretty much putting all of the blame for the illegal items on the bus on his friends.

This wasn’t exactly the best look for a hip-hop artist at the time. He was later released on a $10,000 bond. His street cred as a rapper suffered afterward.

Monique Greene Further Damaged His Reputation

Unfortunately, some accusations in 2017 made things look a whole lot worse for him. After word spread, hardly anyone thought he could ever come back from this. 

A college student named Monique Greene accused Nelly of SA. The incident allegedly took place before a Florida Georgia Line concert, when Monique was 22 years old.

The allegations came as a horrific shock to everyone. However, the story quickly took a surprising turn that meant that a lot of people actually forgot that it had ever happened. The case was dropped after just a week when Monique was accused of failing to cooperate with the investigations. 

Monique’s attorney gave a pretty scary explanation about why Monique had not cooperated. Allegedly, it was because she believed that the system was going to fail her. In other words, she didn’t think she would be properly listened to anyway. 

Nelly Denied All of Monique’s Accusations

The rapper’s legal team claimed that the real reason that Monique refused to talk was because her claims were untrue, which Nelly later backed up in his official statement. He said that it was time for him to personally speak up against the claims, which he described as disingenuous.

He said that he was focused on fully cooperating on every level of the investigation to allow law enforcement to get to the bottom of the insane accusations, which was why he had chosen to remain silent on the matter up until that point.

But Nelly also had a lot more to say, and some of what he shared seemed to paint the whole story in a different light. He used his statement to attack Monique’s lawyer, and he suggested that she was just out to ruin him.

Nelly claimed that the lawyer was involved in 2 cases against him and had also made damaging remarks about the police. He claimed that the attorney had labeled the police as incompetent and said that they had let Nelly bully them into ignoring the case against him.

Two months after the initial accusations, Monique decided to come for Nelly in another way. She sued him for SA and also for defamation following his comments.

However, other than his one-year probation, Nelly has never been sentenced and has never served time in prison. But if his recent arrest is taken further, who knows whether or not his sketchy past could come back to haunt him.

Recently, Jana Duggar, the oldest daughter of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, got married in a beautiful ceremony along with hundreds of family members and friends. Future Plans

As for what the future holds, the pair has plans to live together in Nebraska, which is where Stephen lives with his family. They’re going to live in a small house that they bought together, which they have been fixing up with one another.

Jana and Stephen first met over a decade ago when Stephen and his family were snowed in at the Duggar residence. The Wissmann family would travel and sing together, and a snowstorm prevented them from leaving the Duggar’s home one night.

The families played games together and did puzzles until the snow melted and the Wissmann family could leave. Being that she’s a little bit older than Stephen, Jana admitted that he wasn’t on her radar at all at the time.

However, years later the pair reconnected and dated briefly, before ultimately breaking up and going their own ways in life. They stayed in touch though, and eventually decided to reconnect and try the relationship again.

It obviously worked out, as the couple married in an elegant ceremony in Arkansas in front of around 500 guests on August 15th 2024, which was two months after they got engaged. The wedding featured interactive games, a huge meal made by the Wissmann family, and several other activities for the guests. Being that both of them come from large households, it was a priority for both of them to ensure that their families were heavily involved in the event.

Lawsuit Over R. Kelly’s Leaked Emails

A prison officer was sued by R. Kelly for leaking emails. That prison officer stood firm on the accusations, and the government also stood behind the prison officer and others involved in the lawsuit.

In Touch shared the details of the initial report, reporting that a prison officer is denying all allegations of wrongdoing brought by R. Kelly. The singer claims that his privacy has been violated due to the alleged leak and selling of his emails and phone logs to a blogger known as Tasha K.

R. Kelly says that he suffered emotional distress. The prison officer shares that R. Kelly should not have expected privacy considering he is in prison. She argued that her conduct was not “outrageous or intentional” and that she didn’t access computers “without or in excess of authorization.”

R. Kelly Claims Information Had Been Stolen

In the suit, R. Kelly’s lawyer claims that the singer’s information had been stolen in an attempt to create chaos in his personal life. He claims that prison employees used the system within the prison to access emails and phone logs.

This information was then sold to blogger Tasha K, who exposed everything on her own social media platforms. Tasha has since denied the allegations of illegal activity.

R. Kelly’s lawyer goes further to say that Tasha rallied her own following to harass the singer. The information was allegedly used to influence witnesses in the criminal prosecution. The lawyer also claims that the information was used for financial gain and clout.

While one retired police officer is speaking out against the accusations, Kelly claims that more than 60 police officers accessed information he believes should have been private. A lawyer for the government says that there was an investigation into the claims. However, they concluded that there was no unauthorized access to the information in the system.

R. Kelly’s Information Was Passed to the Blogger

The initial accusations came up in 2019 when The Chicago Sun-Times ran the story. The main employee accused of the crimes had previously retired, and no charges have ever been brought against said employee.

However, according to RadarOnline, the government does admit that information was provided to the blogger, admitting to some of the claims from Kelly. This information was accessed from the internal prison system but was not gained through negligent practices.

The government continues to stress that R. Kelly should not have expected the same level of privacy as a free man. The prison officers have access to all information shared with the outside world to keep other inmates, themselves, and people outside safe.

R. Kelly’s lawsuit was thrown out in 2023, per the government’s demands. He has since been moved from the Chicago to facility to Butner Federal Prison.
