What happened between Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow? At one point in time, they were best of friends and practically inseparable. But that no longer seems to be the case.
Rumor has it that their relationship was ruined because of Jay-Z. But what actually happened? Here’s the whole crazy story.
According to Cheat Sheet, Beyoncé and Gwyneth’s friendship started in 2006. This was when the two women and their husbands, Jay-Z and Gwyneth’s ex Chris Martin, met each other at a charity event.

We don’t know much about that meeting, other than that they really clicked. After that day, Gwyneth and Beyoncé became really close friends.
For years, they didn’t speak about their friendship and just kept everything pretty low-key. That was until 2010 rolled around and Gwyneth’s became the first person to let us in on their friendship dynamic.
According to her, when she and Beyoncé first met, they just kind of hooked up. They became really close.
Gwyneth said that Beyoncé and Jay-Z were incredible, very kind, generous, and good people. Little did she know that she would end up regretting those words.
Beyoncé’s Lemonade Album Annouced the Affair
For years after this, Beyoncé and Gwyneth’s friendship kept growing. But then, in 2014, it became clear that something had gone wrong. That year, Gwyneth and Chris announced that they were going their separate ways.
At first, no one thought that this was going to affect the pair’s relationship with Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Less than a year later, Gwyneth introduced Beyoncé on the Grammy stage as her “beautiful friend.” After this, she shared pictures of herself, her daughter Apple, and Beyonce’s daughter Blue Ivy spending time together during Beyoncé’s Super Bowl halftime performance.
Unfortunately, everything started to fall apart after this. It all began after the release of Beyoncé’s Lemonade album.
It’s obvious that Beyonce wasn’t trying to hide the message behind the entire album. Lemonade was about a woman who caught her man cheating on her and her plans to leave him.
Now, if you’re wondering where Gwyneth fits into this entire situation, well, this is it. In her song Sorry, Beyonce sings about Becky with the good hair.
This raised a lot of eyebrows. For starters, a lot of people believed that Becky with the good hair was the person that Jay-Z had cheated on Beyonce with.
At first, no one knew who the woman could possibly be, because the only detail Beyonce gave about her was that she had good hair. And if we’re being honest here, there are a LOT of women with good hair out there, so finding out who Becky is with just this wouldn’t have been the easiest task.
Beyonce left everyone wondering who Becky could be for years. It wasn’t until 2018 that we all got our answer.
Beyoncé Never Denied the Affair Accusations
Back then, Amber Rose appeared in an episode of Spencer and Heidi Pratt’s podcast “Make Speidi Famous Again.” She made some insane claims.
According to her, Gwyneth was the person Beyoncé referred to as Becky with the good hair. She backed up her statement with a lot of solid claims.
She explained that Gwyneth, Beyoncé, and Jay-Z used to be super close for years. They’d attend each other’s functions and spend time at each other’s houses.

But then, all of a sudden, this stopped right after Gwyneth and Chris split up. Although Amber didn’t hint at this next part, a lot of people believe that it was actually the missing piece to the whole story.
Now, the theory about Beyoncé and Gwyneth’s friendship breakup is this. Somewhere along the line, Gwyneth and Jay-Z became a little too close.
From there, an affair between them started. It lasted for as long as it could before Chris found out and decided to leave Gwyneth.
While Beyoncé still stood by Jay-Z’s side despite it all, she made him push Gwyneth away so that they could heal their marriage. Now, although this is just a theory and not the real story, you can’t deny the fact that it would make a lot of sense.
Either way, after Amber’s accusations, Gwyneth came out to defend herself, claiming that everything that was said by Amber was a lie. In her words, it was absurd for people to even think something like this was true.
But get this. Even though Gwyneth clearly denied all the allegations made about her, Jay-Z, and their alleged affair, Beyonce and Jay-Z kept completely silent. It was almost as if they didn’t want to reopen any old wounds and just wanted the whole thing to slowly fade away.
It eventually did. But it also became clear that Beyonce and Gwyneth wouldn’t get their relationship back to where it was before.
Because after everything was said and done, Beyonce never showed up for Gwyneth’s second wedding. I guess you could say that was her way of letting Gwyneth know that she was done with her for good.
Jay-Z Had Been Unfaithful Before
After all, this wasn’t the first time Beyonce had to deal with Jay-Z’s unfaithfulness. In 2013, after rumors of him cheating on Beyonce started swirling around, he had a whole encounter with Solange in an elevator. In the security footage from the elevator, you could clearly see Solange attacking Jay-Z, and she looked really mad.
It didn’t take long for Beyonce to step in and break everything off. But the damage had already been done, and the rumors had already started spreading.
After this, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Solange, and everyone else involved in the elevator drama kept quiet about the whole situation. It was almost as if it never happened on their end.
They kept this energy up until Beyonce released her song Flawless a year later. In the song, there was a particular line that everyone believed referenced the incident between Jay-Z and Solange in the elevator. There was a line where she said that of course sometimes things go down when there’s a billion dollars on an elevator.
After that, Beyonce didn’t say anything about the whole cheating thing until she released Lemonade. Even though Gwyneth has tried to prove her innocence, there’s just no way of knowing what actually went down back then, unless Beyonce and Jay-Z decide to tell their own side of the story.
But I honestly can’t see that happening. They’re both super private these days. So, I don’t think the chances of them speaking out about this old drama are very high.
