Janelle Brown’s Son Garrison Dead at 25

Garrison Brown, the son of Kody and Janelle Brown, was found deceased at his home on Tuesday, March 5th, at his home in Flagstaff, Arizona at just age 25.

According to TMZ and the Flagstaff Police Department, Garrison was found by his brother, Gabe. Police officers arrived at the scene after receiving an emergency call, supposedly from Gabe. According to the police report, he was found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No foul play is suspected, although an investigation is underway. It’s also unclear if any note was left behind.Garrison was a popular character on the TLC show, Sister Wives.

He had appeared on the show since he was a young child when it premiered in 2010. He is also one of the only adult children in the Brown family who still regularly appeared on the show.

Although many of the children had stopped appearing over the years, Garrison was frequently featured to discuss his worsening relationship with his father, Kody, and his parents’ divorce, especially in the most recent season of the show.

Janelle Posted a Heartbreaking Statement On Instagram

Janelle posted a statement via her Instagram confirming the loss. She wrote:

“Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown. He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory. Aside from that statement, none of the other members of the Brown family have spoken out about the devastating tragedy yet.”

Aside from being Kody and Janelle’s biological son, he had a very close relationship with Kody’s ex-wife, Christine. Christine acted as a second mom to Janelle’s kids while they were growing up and Janelle was working.

All of Janelle’s kids stayed close with Christine over the years, and both Garrison and Gabe had spoken out about choosing her in their family over Kody.

It appears as though Garrison had little to no relationship with Kody at the time of his passing. Garrison’s relationship with Kody hit a turning point in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Garrison Has Been Estranged from Kody

Kody did not want Garrison to live in Janelle’s house because he wasn’t following the quarantine rules Kody had imposed on the family. Janelle fought back with Kody on these claims, saying that he was going to work, and that he was saving money to buy a house, which was why she was allowing him to live with her.

Garrison did eventually buy a house in 2021, which was where he was found at the time of his passing. His home also recently served as a plot point on the most recent season of Sister Wives.

Christine and Janelle discussed that Janelle’s son, Gabe, and Christine’s daughter, Gwen, were planning on moving into Garrison’s house.Christine was worried because Gwen didn’t line up politically with Garrison and Gabe.

Ultimately, Gwen decided that moving in with her two brothers wouldn’t be the best choice, but the five of them met for a family dinner to discuss the fractured relationships in the family, along with Janelle’s youngest child, Savanah.

This news comes as a shock to fans of Sister Wives, as fans watched Garrison struggle with his relationship with Kody, but seemed to be thriving in other areas of his life.

TLC’s Chilli Becomes a Grandma at 53

Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas is officially a grandmother. The 53-year-old TLC member’s son, Tron Austin, just had a baby girl.  

“We are officially parents!!” he shared on Instagram alongside a photo of him and his wife, Jeong Ah Wang, holding their newborn daughter, Lua. 

Tron also revealed that the baby arrived a little early. “She was scheduled for March 6th on a Wednesday but nope she wanted to come sooner! This morning my wife’s water broke at 7am and we immediately got packed as soon as we could and headed to the hospital which is a hour and thirty minutes drive from where we are btw,” he wrote.

Chilli’s Granddaughter Was Born a Little Early

“She went into an emergency C section at 1pm. Our nerves were high and our anxiety was through the roof but despite all of that she powered through and gave birth to a healthy beautiful baby girl!” 

He also shared his gratitude about starting a family: “This is a dream come true. We started dating on September 22,2018 fast forward almost 6 years later, we are married with our first child and life’s journey has now truly begun!” 

In September 2023, the couple announced their baby news on Instagram. Tron revealed that it took many tries and procedures to get to that point: “2 HSG procedures , one hysteroscopy , removal of both tubes and scar tissue from hernia & appendicitis surgeries , one egg retrieval, one miscarriage.” 

“IVF has tested us and blessed us through a year and a half journey,” he added.

Chilli has yet to publicly comment on the happy event, but she has previously shown fans glimpses into her relationship with her son, who she shares with ex Dallas Austin. For example, she posted on Instagram to celebrate Tron’s birthday. 

“Happiest birthday, my young King,” she wrote in the caption of her post. “Looooooooooove you!!! I’m so blessed to be your momma.”

Could Chilli Also Become a Mom Again Soon?

Chilli is currently dating Matthew Lawrence. Even though she is now a grandma, the two have talked about children. “She’s an amazing person,” Lawrence, 44, shared with E! News. “She’s already a mother, she has an incredible son. I respect so much as to how she’s raised him. She’d be an incredible mother again, and I’d be incredibly lucky, but that’s way in the future.”

That said, Matthew, 43, who started dating the singer in 2022 after a break-up with his ex Cheryl Burke, also clarified that he didn’t want to pressure his partner – there are no actual plans to start a family in the immediate future, it was more something he thought would be great if it were to happen. 

The Sad Story of Kane Brown’s Dad

Although Kane Brown had a tough childhood, he’s said very little about his father. The real truth is sad because Kane’s dad has remained such a mystery until now. You won’t believe who is speaking out and trying to set the record straight.

Kane was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in October 1993. His mom, Tabatha Brown, allegedly raised him and his sister, Heidi, as a single parent.

Until very recently, public information about Kane’s father was basically non-existent. This includes the name or birthplace of his father. Although, Kane has been open about his mom being white and his dad being Black and part-Cherokee. 

Kane was only three years old when his father received a lengthy jail sentence. According to one source online, a man claiming to be Kane’s father is questioning his guilt from behind bars.

In July 2019, Kane appeared on ABC News Radio. A highlight of the interview was Kane admitting how excited he was to become a dad for the first time—but it was equally heartbreaking.

Kane’s wife, Katelyn Jae, was expecting a baby girl. He confessed, “I’m excited. You know, me and my wife are in it together, and I get to be the dad that I never really had.”

Kane’s Alleged Father Claims He Was Wrongfully Convicted

But Kane wasn’t done revealing inside knowledge of the father he barely knew. Kane admitted he had something of a relationship with his dad, even though Kane’s father is still a prisoner.

Kane said, “He’s a drummer, which I didn’t even know.” He added that his father likes bragging about having a famous son. He joked, “I’m going to hire him when he gets out.”

In June 2022, another side to Kane’s story became public knowledge when a shocking petition for justice appeared on Change.org. If this information is the real truth, it’s the first publicly released statement from Kane’s alleged father, Michael Peek Sr.

Michael alleges that he is Kane’s father. Even more startling, Michael claims he was wrongly convicted of serious crimes by a Chattanooga, Tennessee jury in 1996 when he received a 99-year sentence.

Michael threw shade at the Chattanooga Police Department and accused them of using a conspiracy theory against him. He alleged that the police arrested him solely because he was a Black man who was known to date white women and who lived a mile from one of the five alleged victims in the criminal case.

In an unbelievable twist, Michael alleged that a legally blind lawyer was court-appointed to represent him. This lawyer couldn’t defend him against the physical description provided by the victims.

Michael claimed that the alleged victims all described their attacker in the police report as being 5 feet 5 inches tall with a pot belly, stubby fingers, and hairy arms and hands. He claimed he was 6 feet 5 inches tall with little body hair on his arms or hands. Michael also said he was physically fit with no “pot belly” at the time of his arrest.

The Court Denied Michael’s Appeal

Michael also accused his lawyer of excluding several character witnesses to testify in his defense at trial. He continued to declare in the petition that he was innocent.

If that’s the real truth, why hasn’t Kane come to his father’s defense?

There is a public record of one appeal in Michael’s case that happened four years after his conviction. The appeals court’s judgment contains shocking information about what Kane’s father was charged with—if Michael is actually Kane’s real father, as he claims.

In the court document, Michael is called “the defendant.” The appeal states that Michael was found guilty of fourteen felonies. These included burglary, robbery, and physical harm done to the five victims.

Michael sought an appeal of all his convictions. He claimed that hair, saliva, and blood samples drawn from him during the first trial should have been suppressed. Michael also claimed he was shackled during his first trial, and his shackles should have been removed. 

Unbelievably, the appeals court found “error in the trial court’s allowing the complaints of all five victims to be tried at a single trial” and the “court’s not following the required procedures before shackling the defendant during the trial.” But the appeals court also determined that these errors were “harmless,” and they denied Michael’s appeal. 

Since Kane has never spoken out about his father’s real name or what he did to land in prison for so long, the real truth about Michael’s story and his connection to Kane remains unverified.

Kane Had a Crazy Childhood

What’s even more shocking is how Kane was mistreated by his stepfather as a very young boy before his grandmother came to his rescue.

Kane once told CBS News, “I don’t know if I ever told you, but I had, like, a crazy childhood.” He added, “I had to grow up a lot faster than the normal person.” Kane experienced homelessness as a kid, and sometimes, he and Tabatha had no place else to sleep but her car.

He never really experienced a father’s love when he was growing up. Kane told CBS that one of his stepdads punished him by shaving him bald and then putting aftershave on his head to sting him. 

Kane also confessed that this stepfather made him “physically eat half a bar of soap, not just bite into it. I had to physically eat it and swallow it.”

Southern Living reported that Kane’s grandmother, Edy Brown, threw that stepfather in jail after she discovered he was harming Kane.

Kane calls Edy “a huge part of my life.” The real truth is she imprisoned Kane’s stepfather because she was “a sheriff and a detective.” During one period in Kane’s life, he lived with Edy and said, “We got really close.” 

Kane remembered how Edy would take him for drives in her police car, and she would take him to the police station with her “all the time.” He said, “The cops knew who I was, and it made me feel special.”

But Kane also learned right from wrong at the police station. He said, “I would get to see the bad guys come in with their handcuffs, and my Nana would say, ‘You never want to be here.’ I feel like that was very important in my life.”

Kane Was Raised by Strong Women

Kane has spoken out about the many challenges Tabatha faced as a single mom, and he’s been candid about how it affected him. But Kane has always been grateful to his mom, Nana, and all the strong women who helped to raise him.

An iHeart report talked about Kane’s video for “Good As You,” which shows a young boy and his sister growing up with bright futures despite a difficult childhood. Kane said, “I was raised with strong women around me. My mom worked multiple jobs, and my Nana truly was a sheriff in my town.”

He revealed, “To be able to honor them is incredible because no matter how much we struggled, my Mom and Nana never let me see it. They sheltered me from any problems, and I appreciate them for that.”

Kane also talked about the lyrics to “Good As You,” specifically the opening line, “I see the way you’re taking care of your mama, the way you’re taking care of me.” He revealed that the women around him always cared for Kane and his sister, and they cared for each other, too.

The Palace’s statement following Kate’s surgery read:

“Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery. The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.

Regardless of the announcement, the people of the internet began to speculate about what exactly happened to her last week after Prince William was scheduled to attend the funeral of his godfather, the late King Constantine II of Greece, only to later cancel due to personal reasons.

The two were seen driving near Windsor Castle, and were photographed by the paparazzi company, Backgrid.

After the subject of her alleged disappearance went viral online, a spokesperson for Kensington Palace spoke out to Newsweek, saying:

“As we have been clear since our initial statement in January, we shall not be providing a running commentary or providing daily updates.”

Just one month earlier, on January 29, the Palace gave an update on Kate’s progress, saying:

“The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.

“The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided.

“The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.”

That was the final update given about the Duchess of Wales until the Palace was forced to speak out again after the discourse surrounding her absence and alleged disappearance.

Kate returned to her home with Prince William and their three children, Adelaide Cottage, which is notoriously private and inaccessible to the public.

It’s still unclear why Kate and her mother were driving near Windsor Castle, and how they were photographed by paparazzi.

Carrie shocked her fans in January 2023 when she posted on social media that someone had gone missing at home. Luckily, she wasn’t talking about one of her sons going missing. But she still sounded like a relatable mom when she complained that she kept losing half of everyone’s socks while doing the laundry.

Carrie and her husband, Mike Fisher, welcomed their oldest son, Isaiah, on February 27, 2015. After some heartbreaking struggles to get pregnant again, their second son, Jacob, was born on January 21, 2019.

Hello! Magazine’s online edition reported that Carrie prefers to keep her kids safe at home while on tour. Carrie and Mike believe that this gives their kids a better routine and more stability.

But sometimes, Carrie makes exceptions—and she set the record straight about life on tour during a TV interview in London, UK, in 2022. Carrie appeared on the popular Lorraine show in the UK and talked about her sons. In the interview, there was a picture of Carrie’s boys wearing little jackets from her Reflections residency in Las Vegas, but you couldn’t see Isaiah or Jacob’s faces.

Closer to home, Carrie appeared on the Today Show in September 2023, revealing some pretty personal things about being a mom to Hoda and Jenna.

Her sons were only five and one when the natural disaster occurred. She explained to Savannah and Carson that she was texting people she knew, desperately trying to reach Mike at home.

When she finally got her husband on the phone, Mike told Carrie that he had to go upstairs in the middle of the night, grab both of their sons, and get them into a safe room downstairs in their home. Carrie knew what Mike had to be going through. She said she told him: “I bet everybody is crying, it’s 2 a.m., freaking out, so it was scary.”

Carrie Suffered Multiple Miscarriages

Carrie has always been honest about her life. She’s had to learn the hard way that life doesn’t always go as she prayed for. In a shocking interview with People Magazine, Carrie confessed that she suffered three miscarriages before she got pregnant with Jacob.

She asked herself: “What am I doing wrong?” Carrie said: “I remember having conversations with Mike, trying to make sense of it all.” 

But somehow, Carrie found strength in her faith. She said: “If this isn’t meant to happen, then I need to accept that and know that someday I’ll understand why.”

After Jacob was born, Carrie took a sweet picture of Mike and his boys. It’s one of the rare occasions when you can see Isaiah’s face along with his newborn brother. Carrie says that her two boys are close, even though there’s a little bit of an age gap.

But Carrie has a plan in place for all of her tours or her Las Vegas residency. Either the boys come out with her during school vacations for a few days, or Carrie goes home. Before Carrie started her Denim & Rhinestones tour, she said: “This tour, I’m going home a lot more than I ever have before.”

Teyana Taylor Exposes Iman Shumpert’s Parenting

Things are getting messy with Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert’s divorce. Teyana just accused her ex of failing to properly care for their daughters. 

The singer and actress and NBA star share two daughters: Rue, 3, and Juni 8. Teyana claims  that Iman “consistently fails to properly care for the minor children” and alleges that he is “failing to feed them despite being in the [marital residence] with the minor children.”

Teyana Made Claims About Iman’s Parenting

She also accuses Iman of “smoking marijuana and being under the influence while caring for the minor children,” PEOPLE reports. In her response, Teyana also claimed that Iman put their two daughters in a rideshare in Chicago while he used a private driver. As a result, the kids were allegedly “dropped off at the United Center in general population.” 

The accusations follow Iman’s response following the original divorce filing, according to PEOPLE. Both Teyana and Iman’s attorneys were contacted by the outlet but have yet to comment.

Teyana filed for divorce in January 2023. However, the couple waited months before making their separation public. 
In September 2023, Teyana shared the news on Instagram. “In all fairness, Iman and I are separated and have been for a while. To be 1000% clear, “infidelity” ain’t one of the reasons for our departure. We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children,” she wrote. 

“The only reason I’m even sharing THIS part of the chat is because the narratives are getting a little out of hand & it’s unfair to all parties involved,” she added. 

While the former couple managed to keep their separation private and respectful at the time, more details emerged as Teyana officially filed for divorce. 

Teyana and Iman’s Divorce Escalated

Page Six reports that in the original divorce filing, the singer accused her ex-husband of “cruel treatment” and named that as the reason for the divorce. She also alleged he“displayed extreme narcissistic behavior throughout the majority of their marriage.”

Additionally, she alleged that received “condescending and manipulative” messages from Iman, which put her on an “emotional rollercoaster.” She also alleged that Iman cheated on her during their marriage despite the fact that she initially mentioned that infidelity was not part of the equation in her Instagram announcement to fans.

Iman then asked the court to replace “cruel treatment” with “irretrievable broken bond.” He also denied making Teyana feel unsafe during their relationship.

Teyana recently also accused Iman of turning off utilities in a house she’s living in with their kids and alleged that the basketball player had not paid any child support except for covering Junie’s school tuition, per The Daily Mail. 

The exes met in 2011 but didn’t get romantically involved until 2013, according to Page Six. They made their official debut as a couple in September 2014. They shared both engagement and pregnancy news in 2015. By 2016, they had secretly tied the knot.

Chelsea Houska DeBoer looks like a different person now compared to when she first stepped into the spotlight. Over the last few years, she’s been making bizarre changes to her face that have left her almost unrecognizable. 

But what kind of cosmetic procedures has Chelsea had? The truth behind her insane transformation is honestly shocking, so let’s get into it.

When Chelsea first rose to MTV fame on 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom 2, she was only 18. So it makes sense that her appearance has changed over the years, considering she’s now 32. But the aging process still doesn’t explain why her face looks alarmingly different.

Chelsea used to have natural beauty, but now her face almost looks like it’s made of plastic. She’s always had a slightly oval-shaped face, but it’s extremely elongated now and appears to be drooping down more than ever.

Strangely enough, Chelsea’s jaw and cheekbones look incredibly pronounced, which has made her face appear wider overall. There are also parts of her face, especially near her mouth and eyebrows, that basically don’t move anymore. 

Chelsea is no stranger to getting Botox, and her dad has even given her the injections. Since he works as a dentist and has his own office, Randy has been able to help Chelsea keep up with her Botox for a long time. 

But over the last few years, it seems like her injections are doing much more than just erasing her wrinkles, and not in a good way. Chelsea has relied so heavily on Botox to keep her looking young that it’s started to have the total opposite effect. Her eyes appear to be drooping down at the outside corners because areas near them have been overfilled. 

Chelsea Has Admitted to Having a “Little Bit of Filler”

Botox clearly isn’t the only thing she’s had done, considering her lips have gone from natural-looking to ridiculously large. A few years ago, Chelsea was still denying ever getting lip filler until multiple people pointed out the very noticeable difference in the size of her lips. 

So, she finally admitted to having a ‘little bit of filler.’ According to The U.S. Sun, Chelsea even showed herself at a filler touch-up appointment on her Instagram Story in November 2022.

But these days, Chelsea’s lips are starting to look completely unnatural. She’s talked about wanting them to be a little plumper without looking too crazy, but she’s definitely gone too far. She’s had so much filler added to them that they look seriously unbelievable.

Now, Chelsea’s top lip curls up a lot at the corners of her mouth. It looks like there’s an extra fold of skin on the outside corners that was never there before. 

Many people believe she’s also had filler injected into other areas of her face. The upper part of Chelsea’s cheekbones has recently started to appear fuller than ever. Some users speculated that she might have had a cheek implant procedure, but it could be just the result of too much filler.  

The same can be said for Chelsea’s chin and jaw, which have been constantly morphing over the last few years. In a video posted to her Instagram Story, she revealed that she had recently started getting Botox in her jaw. The reason why was truly bizarre.

Chelsea explained that whenever she was feeling stressed or anxious, she would clench her teeth. Apparently, when she was getting her regular touch-ups, the injector suggested getting Botox in her jaw to help her clench her teeth less.

Fans Suspect That Chelsea May Have Undergone Surgery

But there’s another facial feature of Chelsea’s that seems to look quite a bit different than it used to. Many people have speculated that she’s either had a surgical nose job or a Botox nose job because the tip of her nose appears smaller and the bridge looks narrower. 

She also used to have more hooded eyes, but now they look like they’ve undergone an unreal transformation. Now, the space between Chelsea’s eyelids and brow bone appears much larger, and her eyes look more open. 

Some people suspected that she might have had a blepharoplasty or surgery to remove extra skin from her eyelids. But she may have had a much simpler and less invasive procedure.

Chelsea might have had a Botox brow lift, which could achieve basically the same results as a blepharoplasty. Considering all the other places on her face she’s injected with Botox, it wouldn’t be a surprise if she’d added her upper eye and brow areas to the list.

Chelsea may not be able to tell how drastically her appearance has transformed solely from Botox and fillers. But even just getting regular upkeep injections done frequently over the years can cause so many unexpected facial changes.

Chelsea Likely Has “Filler Fatigue”

According to an article by HuffPost, ‘filler fatigue’ happens when a person has had so much filler injected that it stretches their facial tissue over time. Michelle Yagoda, a plastic surgeon based in New York, told the outlet that even if someone gets their filler dissolved professionally, the damage has probably already been done. 

She explained that every time someone gets filler injected, that area underneath the skin increases in size. Eventually, a big pocket is created. That pocket requires even more filler injected into it just to give the typical desired effect. 

But what happens when someone with filler fatigue continues to get more injections over time is honestly insane. Michelle added that sometimes people will try to inflate those pockets with so much extra filler that it results in their faces looking super wide and disproportionate.

When they attempt to balance out their facial features by getting more filler in other areas, it just leads to the same cycle of overfilling. That could explain why Chelsea’s cheeks are starting to appear wider, and her cheekbones have been looking so much more pronounced. It doesn’t help that her teeth also appear whiter and larger than ever, which indicates that she could have gotten veneers. 

But it’s not just Chelsea’s face that’s changed a crazy amount over the years. A lot of social media users have speculated that Chelsea has either had a tummy tuck or liposuction. 

There’s no denying that her strict diet and extreme exercise regimen have helped her stay in shape. But not everyone is convinced that she’s only taken the natural route to get so fit and toned.

Chelsea Rarely Addresses Plastic Surgery Rumors

As weird as it sounds, many people on Teen Mom Reddit forums have pointed out that Chelsea’s belly button has changed so much over time. She used to have a normal-looking belly button, but now it appears as a very small dent on her abdomen.

But that’s not all.

About a year and a half ago, Chelsea’s Instagram followers noticed something crazy. Despite her intense workout routine and her thin frame, her chest suddenly appeared to be much larger than before. 

According to The U.S. Sun, Chelsea had been promoting some new clothes from her collaboration with Lauriebelles in photos that she shared on her Instagram Story. The tops she had on were very form-fitting, which made it easy to see that her chest looked much different. Many people began to suspect that Chelsea had recently had work done to enhance the size of her chest. 

She rarely addresses any plastic surgery rumors about herself. As of a couple of years ago, she was still denying that she’d ever had any cosmetic procedures done other than Botox and fillers. 

Chelsea has been open about the facial treatments that she regularly gets, like micro peels and Broadband Light treatments. Considering how much her face has changed, it’s definitely possible that she’s secretly had some other procedures done. 

Even if Chelsea is sticking to only Botox and fillers, she may want to be careful about not overdoing it. Based on how wide and down-turned parts of her face look, she might be dealing with filler fatigue. 

So, instead of continuing to overfill her face, Chelsea may need to get some of her fillers professionally dissolved. Otherwise, she’s going to end up looking even more unrecognizable than she already does. 

Run DMC Killers Found Guilty

It’s been over two decades since Jam Master Jay of Run DMC fame had his life taken away from him. In the last couple of days, the men thought to be responsible for his tragic passing were finally convicted. 

Last Tuesday, as reported in AP News, one of the most mysterious cases in hip-hop history came to a close. An anonymous jury in Brooklyn found Jam Master Jay’s close associates, Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington, guilty of taking the legendary DJ’s life in 2002. 

In all that time, investigations into the incident proved complicated and confusing. The authorities were led in several directions thanks to various tips, rumors, and theories over the years.

Top prosecutor Breon Peace told reporters about the difficulties authorities had experienced trying to solve the case. He said, “It’s no mystery why it took years to indict and arrest the defendants.”

His reason was that vital witnesses to the crime “were terrified that they would be retaliated against if they cooperated with law enforcement.” He added, “Their strength and resolve in testifying at this trial were a triumph of right over wrong and courage over fear.”

Although much time has passed since the attack, the story is no less tragic. This was especially true because Jam Master Jay lost his life at the hands of two people he considered to be close friends.

One of them, Karl Jordan Jr, was actually his godson. Ronald Wahington was an old friend living at the DJ’s sister’s home at the time. 

Despite Their Protests, the Defendants Were Found Guilty

18 years after the hit, both men were finally arrested in 2020 and went on to plead not guilty to the charge. After the jury read the verdict, Ronald yelled at the jurors that they had just sentenced “two innocent people.” The supporters of his fellow defendant also started shouting at the jury after the decision was read out.

Both men’s lawyers also restated their belief in their innocence. One of Ronald’s lawyers stated, “My client did not do this. And the jury heard testimony about the person who did.”

In 2003, Ronald had given an interview to Playboy, in which he claimed to have heard the shots from outside the studio. He also said that he saw Karl Jr, whom he called Little D, running out of the building. 

Despite protests from the defendants and their legal teams, the family of Jam Master Jay was relieved to hear the verdict given. His cousin, Carlis Thompson, said he felt like a “2000-pound weight” had been lifted after the decision. However, AP also reported that the family was saddened that the DJ’s mother had not lived to see the conviction. 

Jam Master Jay was thought to have been attacked after getting involved in trafficking illegal substances to pay off debts. Assistant US Attorney Artie McConnell explained that he got involved “to take care of the people who depended on him.”

Many of those same people might now finally find peace, decades after losing one of hip-hop’s great pioneers.
