Dolly Parton Reveals Why She Never Had Kids

Dolly Parton and her husband, Carl Dean, never had children of their own. It turns out, Dolly’s decision not to have kids has nothing to do with growing up poor in a one-room cabin with 11 siblings.

Dolly once claimed that she regretted not having children and confessed that she and Carl “just assumed” they would have kids. She also admitted they “weren’t doing anything to stop it.” The couple even had baby names picked out.

Dolly has also had a significant influence over her younger siblings. In an interview with Billboard magazine, she revealed that five of her younger siblings lived with her and Carl for many years, but having kids of their own was not meant to be.

Why Dolly Feels She Wasn’t Meant to Have Kids

Eventually, Dolly grew to understand something. She felt that a higher power decided that having kids was not in the cards for her, she explained in an interview with Today. At the time of the interview, Dolly was 71 years old. She said that “God has a plan for everything” and felt that it was probably God’s plan for her not to have kids. Dolly added that she thought it was because “everybody’s kids” could be hers. “They are now,” she added.

Dolly has remained close to all her younger siblings throughout the years. She’s got a great relationship with her nieces and nephews, too. That said, she admitted that enjoying life with her husband without being burdened by extra responsibility was nice. “Now that Carl and I are older, we often say, ‘aren’t you glad we didn’t have kids?” she shared.

She also told Today that she felt like she was going through her “second childhood” in her late 60s and early 70s. She added that it doesn’t mean she’s childish, just that kids are drawn to her. Dolly believes it’s because of her high-pitched voice and even joked that she looks “like Mother Goose or one of those over-exaggerated characters” and that kids relate to that.

The Meaning Behind “I Believe In You”

The country star discussed all of this while promoting her children’s album, “I Believe In You,” on the Today show. Dolly has always strived to help children. For example, Dolly started the Imagination Library to give books to young kids. In 2017, the Imagination Library reached a huge milestone by giving away its 100 millionth book.

Dolly revealed that she titled her children’s album “I Believe In You” because many of the books she gives away through the Imagination Library have similar themes. Dolly’s own favorite book as a child was “The Little Engine That Could,” which is one of the first books that Imagination Library program participants receive. The positive messages in her songs or the books she gives away are things that kids need to hear, she continued.

Fans love Dolly for her candidness, authenticity and her sometimes self-deprecating sense of humor. She might like to tease herself about how she looks and the cosmetic work she’s done, but Dolly revealed to Billboard that she still feels like the same girl who first came to Nashville in 1964. She has always considered herself a “working woman” and never thought of herself as a big star.

She told Billboard that she’s “lived a lot and done a lot” and has been around so long that many of her fans now look at her like another member of their family.

Beyoncé Speaks Out On Blue Ivy

Beyoncé shared some pretty raw feelings about her daughter in her new concert film. In the movie, which follows the R&B singer’s Renaissance World Tour, Beyoncé opened up about Blue Ivy and the criticism she has faced online.

The 11-year-old experienced some backlash after appearing alongside her mother on several stops of her tour. Beyoncé revealed that Blue Ivy had read some negative comments about herself — some people mocked her dance moves after her first surprise appearance onstage in Paris last May.

How Blue Ivy Reacted to Online Critics

Beyoncé made sure to mention the positive spin her daughter put on her naysayers’ reactions. She said that Blue Ivy was determined to prove any critics wrong about her and decided to use the criticism as an opportunity to work harder on her dancing skills.

Beyoncé also revealed how she feels about going on tour with her daughter. She confessed that the idea of Blue Ivy joining her onstage was not always something that she was very happy about. Apparently, the initial plan was for her daughter to make just one appearance at the start of the tour — and even that was something that Beyoncé allegedly wasn’t completely sold on.

Beyoncé Initially Didn’t Want Blue Ivy to Perform

The Grammy winner mentioned that performing live in front of thousands of people was no place for such a young kid. She even claimed that she almost passed out the first time her daughter joined her during a performance.

According to The New York Times, Blue Ivy told her mom that she was ready to perform, but Beyoncé initially said no. However, over the next few months, Blue Ivy showed her mom just how much she had improved on her dancing as the tour went on.

Her progress did not go unnoticed by fans, and, in September, a TikTok compilation illustrated just how far she had come. In her early performances, Blue Ivy appeared pretty timid and shy. In a later show in Houston, she looked completely different and much more confident.

Blue Ivy didn’t just change on stage. In July, her grandmother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, told PEOPLE that Blue Ivy’s confidence had “soared to the sky”. This transformation apparently started after her very first performance with her mom. Tina explained that her granddaughter had really only been given a week to prepare for her debut show, and, since then, Tina said that Blue Ivy had just gotten better and better. She added that she couldn’t be more proud of Blue Ivy after seeing how hard she had been working.

Jay Z Is a Proud Dad

Although Beyoncé might have had her doubts at first, it seems like the whole family now loves to see Blue Ivy performing for the world. Her dad, Jay Z, has also been gushing about how proud he was to see his daughter and wife perform together. He told CBS Mornings’ Gayle King that he still got goosebumps seeing Blue Ivy walk onstage.

Paris Hilton and her husband, Carter Reum, are having an especially Happy Thanksgiving — they just announced that they’ve welcomed their second baby, a girl named London.

Paris Announced Her Baby News On Instagram

Paris announced the news on Instagram by posting a picture of a pink baby onesie and captioning the photo “Thankful for my baby girl” in honor of Thanksgiving. The word London is seen on the pink onesie.

Paris’s celebrity friends are celebrating London’s arrival. Kris Jenner, Demi Lovato, and London-born supermodel Naomi Campbell all jumped online to congratulate Paris and Carter. Paris and Carter’s little boy, Phoenix, got in on the Thanksgiving surprise too.

In a video uploaded to TikTok, Paris mentions the arrival of a new baby. Phoenix is seen on camera. Paris asks him how excited he is for his baby sister to come home. She tells her son, “I love you, angel.” Then, she asks, “Are you the big brother today?” and adds, “You’re the big brother now?”. Paris also asks Phoenix if he is going to watch after his sister.

Paris Was Secretive About Her First Baby Too

The news comes as a surprise for many fans, as Paris and Carter just welcomed Phoenix in January 2023. He was born via a surrogate. Paris announced the arrival of the baby boy on Instagram last January, by posting a photo showing a baby’s hand wrapped around her thumb. “You are already loved beyond words,” read the caption.

Back in September, Paris was teasing her sister Nicky about possibly having a daughter in the near future. “I’m sure it’s very soon… and you’re being secretive and not telling us,” Nicky responded. Nicky is referring to the fact that Paris and Carter were secretive about Phoenix’s arrival.

The couple discussed why on their reality show, “Paris in Love.” Carter admitted that he wanted to share the news about Phoenix with everyone. “I don’t think it ever hit me we weren’t going to tell anyone,” he said.

Paris was the one who wanted to keep the pregnancy a secret. “She’s had to go through life having to protect herself,” added Carter. “I was gonna do everything I could to be a good teammate.”

Tiffany Haddish Arrested for DUI After Falling Asleep at The Wheel

Fayette County Sheriff’s Office

Tiffany Haddish was arrested early Friday morning for an alleged DUI after falling asleep at the wheel. According to TMZ, police arrested Tiffany after they got a call about a vehicle stopped in the middle of Beverly Drive – the actress was allegedly found slumped over the wheel while the car was running. She wasn’t involved in an accident.

Tiffany had performed hours earlier at The Laugh Factory in West Hollywood for the comedy club’s annual Thanksgiving event. The Los Angeles Times reports that while Tiffany was still in custody Friday morning, police said that she would be released within several hours.

This Is Tiffany’s Second DUI-Related Incident

This is the comedian’s second DUI. In January 2022, she was arrested in Peachtree City, Georgia. According to The Hollywood Reporter, police received a call at about 2:30 a.m. about a driver asleep at the wheel. Tiffany was detained and charged with driving under the influence. She later posted $1,666 bond and was released from the Fayette County Jail, per the LA Times. The “Girl’s Night” start was reportedly filming a movie in the area at the time.

She talked about the incident on“The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” a few weeks later and made jokes about it. “I can say this Jimmy, I’ve been praying to God to send me a new man, a good man,” she said. “And God went ahead and sent me four in a uniform. I wasn’t expecting it.”

“I got a really great lawyer and we’re gonna work it out. And I’ve got to get my asking of things to God a little better,” she added. TMZ reports that she is due in court on December 4 for that case.

Her Comments Sparked Controversy

At the time, Tiffany received support from fans after the incident made the headlines – she was recovering from a public breakup with Common and grieving the loss of her grandmother and her friend Bob Saget.

Her comments on “The Tonight Show” did offend some viewers. “Drunk driving is no joke. We are grateful no one was injured or killed, and we hope going forward she will use her humor and celebrity to save lives and prevent injuries by communicating that drunk and drugged driving are 100% preventable, 100% of the time,” tweeted the non-profit organization Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).

Who Is Cassie’s Husband?

R&B singer Cassie has been making the headlines for filing a lawsuit against ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs and making serious allegations about what happened during their relationship.

The two parties reached a settlement a day later, according to CBS News. But fans are now wondering, who is Cassie’s husband?

Cassie’s Husband Is Personal Trainer Alex Fine

Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, married personal trainer Alex Fine in 2019.

Cassie and Alex have two children: daughter Frankie, who was born two months after their wedding, and daughter Sunny, who was born in March 2021.

According to InTouch, Alex is a fitness enthusiast, professional bull rider and model. Alex told The Manual that he got into bull riding after a bet he made with one of his personal training clients. “I thought I could do it and he didn’t. I’d never ridden a horse before,” he said.

Alex Is a Successful Celebrity Fitness Trainer

Alex has trained the likes of Mark Consuelos, Jennifer Aniston, Odell Beckham Jr., Reggie Bush and KJ Apa, per Hollywood Life. “I built my gym on friend referrals. And that has to do with results. People get the results they want or need and I get them there in a short amount of time. It’s also about trust,” he told The Manual.

According to Hollywood Life, before becoming a successful fitness trainer, Alex played football at Central Michigan University. He has a charitable streak – he volunteered for the Special Olympics and also helped in the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in 2017. He is now the founder of an online fitness platform called Almost Home.

Cassie and Alex Met at a Gym

Cassie and Alex met at a gym, according to Vogue. They discovered that they were expecting soon after they started dating in 2018.

Cassie told Vogue that they debated whether to get married before or after the baby’s arrival but ultimately decided to tie the knot before. Alex asked Cassie to marry him with a cowboy-themed proposal in August 2019, per US Weekly.

“When he got down on one knee, everything just stopped,” Cassie told Vogue. “I felt like I lost my sense of hearing. I saw just his mouth moving and he said, ‘I want to spend the rest of my life with you.’ I will never forget how special Alex made me feel that night.”

They Both Gush About Each Other On Social Media

Alex celebrated his 30th birthday in March 2023 and counted his blessings on Instagram.

He included “a wife I love [who] loves me” and “two babies that make my heart grow bigger every time they smile” in his heartfelt post.

Cassie also regularly shares family updates on Instagram. She shared a sweet tribute to Alex in honor of the couple’s fourth anniversary this year.

“There’s no one like you in this world. You have the biggest heart and the funniest sense of humor, your curiosity about life still surprises me and warms my heart everyday,” she wrote under a photo of the couple.

“I grow more and more and more and more in love with you as time goes on and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Thank you for loving me the way you do.”

Jace Evans Is In Foster Care After Running Away Again

Jace Evans has run away once again, TMZ reports. Last month, 14-year-old Jace was removed from his mother, Teen Mom alum Jenelle Evans, and his stepfather David’s house.

He had run away three times, and there was an incident where David allegedly harmed Jace. It seemed like once Jace went back to living at Barb’s house, everything had settled down. But now, there are reports surfacing from TMZ about Jace’s reported fourth attempt at running away from home.

Jace’s Fourth Runaway Attempt

According to TMZ, Jace ran away on Saturday, and was not found until 11:45 pm on Sunday night. Allegedly, he was caught vaping at school, and Barb’s punishment was to take away his phone. Barbara was allegedly instructed not to give Jace a phone by CPS, Jenelle, and the school, but she thought that he was stable enough to have one.

So when she took the phone away, he reportedly ran away once again. This time, he’s been hospitalized and is now in CPS foster care. It’s a tragic update for a kid who has been through so much in just 14 years. In just the last year, he went from living with Barbara to living with Jenelle for the first time in years and being forced to live with David. Then, he went back with Barbara, and now, it sounds like he’s in the foster care system.

According to TMZ, things are not looking good for Jace. CPS is allegedly exasperated by the case. Supposedly, if he gets into any more trouble, he might be looking at spending time in a juvenile detention facility. It’s a tragic situation. On one hand, he was in a horrible situation with his mom and David. He had never been raised by them before and Jenelle was allegedly withholding his medication for his ADHD, which only made things much worse for his behavioral issues.

And then he was sent back to Barbara, who is a woman in her seventies who’s struggling to take care of a child with a lot of issues. It’s unclear why Jace has been hospitalized — if something physically happened to him while he ran away or if it’s a hospitalization related to his mental health.

Jenelle Evans Appeared to Allude to the Situation

Jenelle seems to have made subtle statements about what’s going on. She posted a meme of Cardi B that said “When the weapons formed against you ain’t prospering…”, which everyone took to be a clear insult directed at Barb and Jace. David posted his own subtle statement, writing “Where’s Waldo” on Facebook. It’s a very sad situation, and hopefully one that’s resolved soon, for Jace’s sake.

Bunnie XO’s Father Enters Hospice Care

Although Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO celebrated his big win as New Artist of the Year at the 2023 CMAs, this year has been tough on Bunnie personally. Her father, Bill, is suffering from Stage 4 cancer and is now in hospice care.

Bunnie Claps Back at Cruel Commenter

One cruel Instagram commenter recently accused Bunnie of promoting the wrong kind of music while her dad “is laid up in a hospital” and close to passing away. This commenter said that Bunnie’s behavior was “UN-CHRISTIAN LIKE…”

Bunnie clapped back, calling the commenter a “roach motel of a human.” Then she confirmed that Bill “was moved to hospice” and chastised those who think critically of her or her family without understanding what’s going on behind the scenes.

Bunnie reminded the person who made that rude comment that she’s choosing what she wants to share publicly. She then shared an Instagram Story video of her visiting Bill in his hospice facility.

In the video, she walks to Bill’s bedside, bends down, and gives him a long, gentle hug. The background sound is Scotty McCreery’s “Five More Minutes.” The lyrics of the song talk about being present and appreciating every second with your loved ones.

Healing Took Place In the Midst of Tragedy

Bunnie also shared an update on her hectic life right now. She said she was moving and trying to make her house a home. She also wrote that she is “trying to smile through heartbreak.” On top of all that, Bunnie wrote that she is “making sure” that Bill “wants for nothing.” She also said that she’s “been so blessed to have this time with him” and thanked God for “helping heal her inner little girl as well as her dad’s inner child.”

Bunnie’s followers know that she had a difficult childhood. She was estranged from her dad for many years. She was then shocked to learn that her dad kept his cancer a secret for at least 12 months after he first got diagnosed. The only other person who knew the truth was Bill’s wife. Bill decided to attempt to heal himself with natural remedies, but holistic treatments weren’t effective. When he began having extreme difficulty walking and could no longer eat well, he contacted his daughter.

Bunnie took action immediately and moved Bill from Texas to Tennessee. She put together a new team of medical professionals for Bill in Nashville. the plan was to help Bill be as comfortable as possible while trying to find treatments that could address his type of cancer. Now it seems that Bill is unfortunately in the final stage of the disease.

Jelly Roll Is In Awe of His Wife

Jelly Roll opened up to Taste of Country recently. In the interview, he confirmed that Bill is in the last phase of his life. He added that Bill is “doing a lot better now that he’s here” and that he was “holding his head up really high.”

Jelly Roll enjoys praising his wife online. Lasts July, he uploaded a photo of them and captioned it “A BUNNIE APPRECIATION POST.”

“A lot is often said or made about MY story… but the truth is… I’ve never been moved more by a story than the story of my wife,” he wrote, adding that watching Bunnie overcome things in her life and seeing her passion and determination to become better has inspired him from the moment they first met.

Mike ‘The Situation’ Shares the Moment His Mom and Wife Saved Him

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino opened up about the moment his mom and wife saved him from going down a dark path.

The Jersey Shore star discussed his struggle with addiction and recovery journey in an exclusive interview with ABC’s Stephanie Ramos on Impact x Nightline. “I was in a really bad place,” he said. “I was broke. I was unemployed. I was months behind on my rent.”

A ‘Come to God Moment’

Mike described coming home one day with something stronger than the prescription painkillers he would usually take — heroin. “I told myself, ‘Maybe I’ll just try it,” he recalled. He locked his door and told his wife Lauren that he was going to sleep for the night and wanted to be left alone.

Then, his phone rang. It was his mother. “Are you okay?” she asked. Mike said, “I’m fine mom, why?”

“I feel like something’s wrong,” she answered. Mike described this phone call as a “come to god moment.” He added that as soon as he stopped what he was about to do and hung up, he heard a knock on the door. It was Lauren. “My wife was knocking on the door. So this is a very emotional moment for me. They saved me,” he told ABC.

Grateful for How Far He’s Come

Mike has been very open about his sobriety journey. Back in January, he spoke to TooFab about being nearly eight years sober and reuniting with his castmates on TV for “Jersey Shore Family Vacation.”

“I love it,” he told TooFab. “Because for so long people had forecasted that I wasn’t going to be any good on TV or I wasn’t going to be able to be funny or I wouldn’t be able to last being sober.”

“Now going into my eighth year, I think the product that MTV gets and the fans get is the best version of The Situation,” he added.

“I’m funnier and I have more lines and I’m more authentic. I love that fact that I’m the voice of reason and I have all my wits about me to be able to navigate this madness that is ‘Jersey Shore.'”

Mike has also been committed to helping others on a recovery journey. In 2019, he and his wife partnered with Banyan Treatment Centers to raise awareness about addiction. “Also, we want to shed light on the fact that there are positive stories out there — we do recover,” he told PEOPLE. “Most importantly, the comeback is truly greater than the setback.”

Mike also shared with PEOPLE that he is grateful for how far he’s come since his partying days in his twenties and thirties. At 41, he is now focused on his family. He and Lauren have two kids together: Romeo, who is two, and Mia, who is 9 months old.

In September 2023, the couple announced that they’re expecting baby No. 3.

Nicki Minaj Says She Regrets Cosmetic Surgery

Nicki Minaj revealed how she really feels about her past cosmetic procedures — she regrets them.

“I guarantee you, if you change anything on your body and do anything surgical and all this, you’re going to more than likely, not definitely, more than likely look back one day and say, ‘I was fine just the way I was,” said the rapper on “The Run-Through with Vogue” podcast. “And that’s what happened to me.”

Becoming a Mom Changed Nicki’s Outlook on Her Body

Nicki shared that she used to think her body wasn’t good enough. She felt the need to change all the things she didn’t like about herself. But that all changed after the birth of her son, who is known by the nickname Papa Bear.

Before becoming a mom, Nicki confessed that she used to avoid looking at old photos of herself because they made her feel bad and she didn’t like the way she looked in them. She thought her body looked too skinny, so she had cosmetic procedures in an attempt to feel more beautiful.

Seeing her son changed her outlook: “Seeing my son did remind me of myself so much. My real self. And it made me think, ‘Why didn’t I like this?’ So weird,” she said. After the birth of her son, Nicki started looking at her old pictures again and realized that she found herself beautiful in them and “fine the way she was.” Last June, she confirmed that she had a breast reduction.

Balancing Motherhood and Music Has Been a Challenge

The rapper is on the cover of the December issue of Vogue ahead of the release of her Pink Friday 2 album. Besides her comments about plastic surgery, she also opened up about motherhood. She said that it’s been a struggle trying to be an artist and a mother at the same time. Her son turned three on September 30, and it has been five years since she last released an album.

“I think that deep down inside, I believed that once I had a family, I would just lose the desire to make music,” she told Vogue. “I would always tell people, ‘Watch, when I have a child I’m going to cook every meal for him and bake cookies every day.’ Maybe subconsciously I hoped my focus would just be on being a mother, and I looked forward to that idea. It felt like a relief. But what happens is that you find out you have to work.”

An Anticipated Album Release

Nicki recently shared her enthusiasm about her new album on Instagram Live. “This entire album will be the biggest gift I’ve ever given humanity thus far,” she said. “I can stand by that. I will bet any amount of money that Pink Friday 2, the album, is going to make people fall in love immediately.” She also told fans to expect a different type of tour from her.

“In addition to it being, of course, a whole new album, the approach to the tour will be very different and the feel of the tour will be very different. We still gon’ cover all the ground that is required to cover in order for y’all to know that you f******g with the best, but it won’t remind you of another tour,” she added.

Tour dates have not been announced yet.

Leah Messer Wants to Break Cycle of Teen Pregnancy

Leah Messer has opened up about her hopes for her family. The former Teen Mom star spoke to Teen Vogue and, fourteen years after her time on the show, revealed her desire to change the pattern of teen pregnancy that has long been part of her family.

The 31-year-old was asked what she would tell her younger self if she could. Her answer? That she would teach younger Leah more about the world to help her have a more rounded education around having babies at such a young age.

Teaching Her Daughters What She Was Never Taught

Leah added that she at least had the opportunity to teach her daughters the things she was never taught. She has regular talks with her kids about the importance of staying safe and has always focused on creating a safe space to have open discussions without guilt or shame. This means that whenever Leah’s kids ask her a question, she aims to answer it honestly.

Leah is hoping to beat the cycle of young pregnancies that has been running in her family for generations. Besides herself, both her mother and grandmothers became moms when they were teenagers. Studies have shown that teenage pregnancy has been linked to a history of teenage pregnancy in the family. However, Leah is confident that she can buck the trend by keeping her daughters informed and educated and paying attention as a parent.

Breaking Teenage Pregnancy Cycles Through New Habits

For example, she wanted her daughter involved when she booked their first doctor’s appointments together next year. And she wanted to use that opportunity to have an open conversation with her kids about women’s health issues.  “It’s the little things, like booking their first gynecologist appointments together next year and having these open conversations with them… that I think will be enough to break the cycle,” she told Teen Vogue. That said, she also added that she would love her three kids no matter what their journey might be.

Leah shares ten-year-old Adalynn Faith with Jeremy Calvert, who she was married to from 2012 to 2015. She also shares twin daughters Aliannah Hope and Aleeah Grace, both 13, with second ex-husband Corey Simms. At 31, Leah is three years away from the age at which her own mother became a grandmother.

“It’s a sweet spot for us right now,” she told Teen Vogue. “I’m 31, but I feel younger than I ever have. I genuinely believe my life is just beginning. That’s how it feels — it’s just beginning.”
