The outlet reports that a source close to the former couple talked to The Shade Room about how it all went down. The source said that they “both feel as though they’d be better off as friends.” The source also added that one of the issues the rappers felt their relationship was facing was how busy both musicians are with their respective careers.
Saweetie and YG Made Their Relationship Public in May 2023
The Daily Mail reported that Saweetie, 30, and YG, 33, were spotted together in public as recently as last month when they were enjoying an outing together in Beverly Hills. They were also reported to be intent on working together on a joint tour, which would have included fellow artist Tyga. Those plans were announced last summer, but all three rappers eventually announced that they had canceled the tour in September. Both Saweetie and YG have had busy schedules of their own to keep up with.
Reports that the two were dating first started to emerge in April 2023. The Daily Mail reported that this came soon after Saweetie and YG were seen getting close at Coachella. The couple made their relationship official on social media the following May. They were pictured together during a romantic trip to Mexico. They put their relationship on display in July 2023 when YG joined Saweetie on her newly released single Birthday.

However, the Daily Mail reported that despite their high profiles, the couple managed to keep their brief relationship pretty “under the radar.” When the Shade Room broke the news of the couple’s split, several people commented that they had not even realized that Saweetie and YG were together.
However, some of Saweetie’s fans have noted that she might have hinted at the breakup in her Instagram stories. Saweetie hasn’t officially addressed her breakup with YG directly, but according to AllHipHop, she might have left some clues. She wrote in one of her stories, “God movin’ quick this year.”
Saweetie Has an Unreleased Album
Fans have been keeping an eye on the changes in Saweetie’s personal life. Many have been waiting for the delayed release of her debut album Pretty B Music. Although the project has been teased for years, it still hasn’t seen the light of day.
Saweetie explained what was causing the hold-up in an interview with E! News last year. She said, “I’ve been through a lot of interesting experiences.” She continued, “So, I wanna put that all into my album in the most artistic and organic way.” Saweetie told E! News that her debut album was not something she wanted to “play with” and stated, “I take my art really serious.”

Before her short romance with YG began, Saweetie was in a much more public relationship with Quavo. They broke up in 2021 after two years together, marked by scandals. In March of that year, Saweetie opened up about the split with a tweet about having “endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes.”
So far, neither she nor YG have made any public comment on going their separate ways.
