Last Sunday, Carrie Underwood’s Tennessee house caught fire while the whole family was inside. Reports first emerged about the serious incident a matter of hours later.
The New York Post reported that the Williamson County Fire Rescue team took to social media to confirm that they had arrived at the scene at 9:40 pm on Sunday night. They described what they saw as a “fully involved fire” that was soon updated to a “structure fire.” It was then put out using a 10,000-gallon water tank that was already on the premises.
Heavy reported that crews from all eight of Williamson County’s fire stations responded to the call. Because of where Carrie and her family stay, the fire trucks faced a long journey to arrive at the American Idol winner’s home.
The property is located in the remote Pinewood community of Leiper’s Fork, about 45 miles south of Nashville. While having lately become a hotspot for celebrities, the secluded nature of the area presented a challenge for the firefighters.
Trucks had to travel up a long road before reaching the long driveway that led to the burning house. A spokesperson for the fire department said, “Crews worked for several hours to extinguish the fire extension into the roofline.”
The spokesperson, Dinah Wade, added, “Crews from Franklin Fire provided a ladder truck and engine crew to assist with the operation. Fairview Fire also provided a tanker and crew for support.”
The Cause of the Fire Is Under Investigation
The firefighters stayed around Carrie’s home for a long time after putting out the flames. This was because the fire had entered the walls of the house and continued to flare up in hot spots.
The cause of the blaze is still being investigated. Although nothing has been confirmed, the fire department’s spokesperson suggested it started when an off-road UTV parked near the garage caught fire.
The flames then spread from the vehicle to the garage, and then to the house, where it was reported that Carrie’s whole family was at the time. Along with the singer herself, her husband Mike Fisher, and their two sons were inside, along with their three pets.

A rep talked to the Post and confirmed that, thankfully, no one was injured in the mysterious incident. The rep said, “There was a fire on the property on Sunday night, which was quickly contained.” They continued, “There was no fire damage to the primary residence, and the family and their pets were unharmed.”
Last Sunday was Father’s Day, but the Post reported that it was unclear if the fire had interrupted Carrie’s family’s celebrations. The Blown Away singer has been married to Mike, a former NHL player, since 2010.
Carrie has not yet said anything in person or online about the shocking events at her house last weekend. Although we know through her rep that no one was hurt, the family was obviously pretty shaken up. Dinah Wade shared that “one of the pets would not leave the homeowner’s side.”
The Fire Came Out of Nowhere
It was no wonder Carrie’s family were in shock about what they had experienced, with the blaze seeming to come out of nowhere.
Just hours before, everything at their house had appeared so peaceful. Earlier the same day, Carrie had posted a photo to her Instagram Story of her smiling beside her two sheep, Gray and Gary. In the caption of the sweet image, she wrote, “Sheep selfie with Gary and Gray.”

Just days previously, the singer was seen looking sensational for the 2024 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Gala in New York City. The 41-year-old stunned onlookers at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel as she bounced back from a recent embarrassing experience.
Earlier this month, Carrie fell on stage following a performance in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. TMZ obtained footage of the moment when Carrie, walking off stage after her headline set, fell as she made her way down the steps at the back of the stage. Several fans were heard in the footage voicing their concern as they watched Carrie tumble.
She later took to Instagram to talk about her performance and even make a joke about her trip. She wrote, “Well, last night sure was fun! And though the ending was quite unexpected, it made for a night we’ll never forget! Thanks for being awesome, #MyrtleBeach!”
The caption was posted alongside a series of pictures of the concert.
Carrie Suffered From Serious Injuries in 2017
Carrie suffered similar accidents in 2017 and 2018. One of these trips was actually pretty serious.
After falling down some stairs in her house, Carrie revealed in January 2018 that she had broken her wrist and even suffered facial lacerations requiring nearly 50 stitches. Following this accident, the singer didn’t appear in public for several months.
It wasn’t until her performance at the 2018 Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas that Carrie showed her full face again. She had previously warned fans that she might look different after her accident. But in truth, there was only minimal scarring visible as she took to the stage.
Despite this, Carrie opened up about the self-doubt she experienced and her worry that she would never look the same again. She said, “In the beginning, I feel like, you know, I didn’t know how things were going to end up. It just wasn’t pretty.”
When the fall happened, Carrie was by herself, with one of her young sons asleep upstairs. Luckily, her more recent fall at Myrtle Beach was nothing like as serious.
Carrie had no idea of the crazy incident that would follow less than a month later. After the fire in her house was put out, the family was allowed to re-enter the property. However, reports stated that there was still a smell of smoke within the building.
It’s unclear if Carrie and her family will be able to stay at the house at this moment.
The Construction of the Home Took 7 Years
Carrie and her husband bought the 400-acre property in 2011 for a whopping $3 million. However, a long construction job meant that their dream home wasn’t finished until 2018.
Before they began building, the couple shared a sneak peek of their property by taking Oprah Winfrey on a tour of their land in 2012. They also gave fans a rare glimpse into their home life during lockdown in 2020.
The celebrity couple opened up in their candid four-part docuseries called “Mike and Carrie: God and Country,” in which they shared the inner workings and secrets of their married life. They also talked on the show about how they went about resolving conflicts within their marriage.
In a recent interview with Life & Style, Carrie talked about how her stable family life kept her grounded away from the stage. She said, “Kids can definitely keep you humble because they don’t care what you do.”
After something so dramatic, it seems like Carrie’s domestic life is not always as ordinary as she thinks it is. Hopefully, Carrie’s shock at the incident in Leiper’s Fork will fizzle out just as quickly as the flames themselves.
