However, a rumored relationship with Morgan Wallen caught the attention of country music fans. After several years of speculation, Megan Moroney is pulling back the curtain on her relationship, and revealing a rather shady side to her life.
Megan Confirmed Her Relationship with Morgan Wallen
Shortly before the release of Tennessee Orange, Megan posted a photo wearing a shirt that some believe belonged to Morgan Wallen. This led to further speculation that the song was actually about him. However, fans were really reaching with this one as Megan was simply wearing a Tennessee Vols shirt, according to Whiskey Riff.
The speculation started when Morgan Wallen commented “Did we ever figure out whose shirt that is?” The fashion choice is pretty on point considering the song features numerous references to the University of Tennessee. At the time, Megan did not confirm whether or not she and Morgan were dating.
She finally divulged new details about the long-rumored relationship on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper. Alex asked point blank “Okay, so Megan. Did you date Morgan Wallen?”
Megan responded to the question with, “Never Exclusively.” This was the first time that Megan directly addressed the possible relationship. She went on to clarify that she purposefully avoided the question in the past but felt it was the right time to finally address it.
Part of her reason for not wanting to talk about it was that Morgan is a relatively private person. What’s interesting is that Megan said they were more than friends, but also never felt that they were in a relationship.
Even more surprising is the fact that she actually met Morgan at the beginning of 2020. Things got shady when Megan tried to explain that the two were friends, then more than friends, but are now back to just being friends.
What’s Next for the Two?
Celebrities dating often proves difficult as scheduling conflicts mean they don’t get to spend much time together. Megan admitted that was part of the reason for her breakup with Morgan.
She also mentioned to People Magazine that she is currently single and enjoying life without being tied down. However, it does sound like she eventually wants to get back to dating and eventually start a family. Her latest album came out in July, so a lot of time has undoubtedly been taken up by putting that together and pumping up its release.
Morgan has also been busy creating new songs and his single Lies Lies Lies caught a lot of attention. Many fans believed it referenced Morgan’s relationship with Megan, but both have confirmed that it does not. In fact, Megan said the two never wrote songs about each other, which is probably a smart move.
Megan Moroney may not be as perfect as she leads on, but it’s nice to see that she and Morgan did in fact have a relationship and that their split was amicable.
