Basketball wives are known for starting drama, but sometimes their husbands are just as bad. Iman Shumpert recently went after his ex-wife while performing a skit. The two had a pretty messy divorce, so the video appeared to be his way of moving on. Still, he clearly isn’t happy about how much he had to pay Teyana.
Iman and Teyana married in October 2016 after much media speculation. Rumors had already swirled that the couple had secretly gotten married. The rumor gained more credibility after Teyana insinuated that they may already be married during an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show just weeks before the couple actually got married.
From Picture-Perfect Marriage To Divorce
Teyana and Iman have two daughters. The eldest was born in 2015 and the youngest in 2020. In September 2023, Teyana and Iman officially announced that they were getting divorced.
Since the announcement, things have gotten pretty heated between the two. What was once seen as an amicable split quickly turned into pandemonium as the couple took shots at each other.
Teyana even posted “We are still the best of friends, great business partners, and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children” to Instagram last year. It appears that the ensuing court battle really took its toll as the two began to take jabs at each other going into 2024.
Teyana Taylor Said Iman Was ‘Treating Her Cruelly …’
Despite announcing their split in September 2023, Teyana actually filed for divorce in January. Court documents filed by Teyana state the reason for the divorce as Iman was “treating her cruelly and displaying extreme narcissistic behavior throughout the majority of their marriage.”
At some point during the year, Iman petitioned the court to change the reason to “irretrievably broken.” Interestingly, the two kept quiet about their split for so long.
There were also rumors dating back to 2022 that Iman cheated on Teyana, but the allegations of mistreatment were new. It’s clear that Iman didn’t take kindly to Teyana’s allegations, or the fact that a Fulton County judge sided with his ex.
After more than a year of waiting, the divorce was finalized in June. However, Iman had to pay Teyana over $1,000,000 as well as contribute $8,000 per month in child support.
Iman’s Diss Skit Towards Teyana Taylor
The settlement prompted Iman to create a video, which he posted on Instagram on July 15.
In the video, Iman is seen getting into his car before social media star Trenel Adams jumps in it and tells him “Hold on man, hold on man, you gave that lady a million dollars, man, You can’t afford this no more.” At the end, Trenel yells “Repo man” as he is seen driving off.
Iman and Trenel never call Teyana out by name, but it’s obvious they are talking about her with the million-dollar settlement.
The video turned out to be a massive hit, pulling in over 20,000 likes in less than a day. This wasn’t the first skit that Iman and Trenel did together, and it probably won’t be the last.
