A couple of weeks ago, hip hop fans were shocked to hear reports that music producer Irv Gotti had suffered a serious health scare.
TMZ first shared the worrying news that Irv had suffered a stroke.

The outlet was reporting on claims made by another hip hop legend, Wack100, who was speaking on a podcast in late August.
Talent Manager And Others Speak Out About Irv Gotti’s Health
The talent manager said that he had been talking to someone at a stroke recovery center about Irv’s health, before going on to explain what had happened to the producer.
It wasn’t long before the media started searching for further explanations.
A rep for Irv told TMZ that the Murder Inc. founder had been struggling with diabetes for years.
They went on to say that his illness had caused him to have what they said was a “minor” stroke.
But what was most shocking about this story was that the rep stated that it actually happened over six months ago.
The news had been kept quiet for a long time to let Irv recover in privacy.
The rep revealed that since then, Irv has made some vital steps to improving his physical wellbeing.
They reported that he had started changing his diet to eat more healthily, and had thankfully made a full recovery.
The rep also denied that Irv was at a rehab facility, saying instead that the producer was enjoying life at home with his family.
Wack100 Asked Listeners To ‘Pray For Irv’
But according to Wack100, Irv’s health scare had taken a heavy toll on his body.
In his podcast experience, Wack100 went on to share more details about Irv’s recovery.
He claimed that he had received images of Irv which showed him walking with a cane outside a recovery center.
He also said that Irv had lost a lot of weight, before asking listeners to “pray for Irv.”
Irv Gotti Opens Up About His Health Problems
Although fans were shocked that news only surfaced about his stroke months later, Irv has in the past been open about his health problems.
He talked about his struggles on his now infamous appearance on the Drink Champs podcast last year.
In particular, Irv opened up about his diabetes, admitting that he probably wasn’t doing all he could to protect himself.
Irv revealed that he didn’t take his insulin consistently, and added that at the time he was struggling to follow his doctor’s diet advice.
Although Irv talked pretty openly about what he was going through, a lot of fans didn’t seem to remember anything about his health.
Irv’s Outrageous Claim About Dating Ashanti While Married
This was probably a lot to do with some of the more shocking and attention-grabbing things Irv said during that podcast appearance.
He made an outrageous claim about dating singer Ashanti while they were both in relationships.
Irv claimed that he had an affair with Ashanti over 20 years ago.
He also said that he was married to his first wife, Debbie Lorenzo, at the time of the alleged affair.
And he went on to admit that Ashanti had already gotten into a relationship with rap star Nelly at the time.
He said that he and Ashanti were together “every day” that she wasn’t with Nelly.
And that he actually came up with Ashanti’s 2002 hit song “Happy” after they shared an evening together.
Irv went on to discuss what their relationship was like these days.
And he said that they “didn’t see eye to eye” anymore.
Ashanti Said Irv Flat-Out Lied
Immediately after Irv shared these revelations, Ashanti came out with a very different story.
In conversation with Angie Martinez on her IRL podcast, she quickly shut down any talk of Irv ever being her boyfriend.
She repeatedly stated that that was never the case and said that Irv just flat-out lied about so many things.
She said that Irv had several girlfriends while separating from Debbie, but she was never one of them.
She went on to add that Irv was “salty” when he found out about her dating Nelly.
Ashanti Claimed Irv Gotti Attempted To Block Her Career
And then she made some huge claims of her own.
Ashanti recalled Irv reacting to the news about her and Nelly by attempting to block her career from progressing.
Allegedly, he actually told people not to record with her and stopped her from coming to the studio.
Irv signed Ashanti to his record label in 2001.
The label went on to reach its peak between 2001 and 2003.
In 2009, Ashanti was released from her contract to make music independently.
Irv Said Ashanti ‘Cut Him Deep’
At one point on the Drink Champs podcast, Irv opened up about how he felt when he was told she was leaving his label.
According to Irv, Ashanti told him that she didn’t want to do it anymore.
Which Irv said “cut him deep,” as he believed he was the one that first gave Ashanti a chance.
It might have been that the federal charges the label was facing at the time scared Ashanti into leaving.
It’s not known what Ashanti and Irv’s relationship is like these days.
Some fans might wonder whether Irv’s recent health issues might make Ashanti want to reconnect with him.
Irv Gotti’s Sexual Assault Lawsuit
However, there are other reasons Ashanti and others might want to keep some distance from Irv right now.
These are to do with hugely concerning recent allegations that have been made about the label head.
Two months ago, it was reported that Irv had been accused of SA, and was facing a lawsuit.

His accuser is a woman who said that she had dated Irv for two years.
In court documents obtained by TMZ, the unnamed woman claimed that she had met Irv through a mutual friend.
They allegedly first crossed paths at a poker tournament in the summer of 2020.
She went on to allege that Irv had quickly taken her on an exotic trip to Saint Martin.
But soon after they arrived, things allegedly got dark.
The woman claimed that after they got to the island, Irv threatened to send her home if she didn’t give him what he wanted.
She went on to say that she eventually complied, explaining that she did so due to his power and influence in the music world.
She allegedly continued to date Irv into January 2022.
Woman Who Irv Gotti Assaulted Led To Her Being In Psych Ward
At this time, the woman made another shocking accusation.
She claimed that Irv flew her out to see him in Miami, where they stayed at the Four Seasons hotel.
The woman alleged that Irv again assaulted her in an elevator.
She claimed that their relationship ended the following summer after Irv flew her out to Atlanta where he allegedly did the same in an Uber, according to the woman.
It was also claimed that Irv had made a series of insulting comments about the woman on social media.
Her experience allegedly led to the woman being admitted for treatment in a psych ward, and she also claimed that she had become afraid to leave her home.
50 Cent Said Irv Gotti ‘Doesn’t Have The Funds’ To Deal With The Lawsuit
It’s not yet known how the lawsuit has played out.
But according to Irv’s longtime antagonist 50 Cent, the music mogul “doesn’t have the funds” to deal with the suit.
While Irv’s team have now confirmed that his health has improved, they did not respond to recent requests for comment on the accusations.
With everything that’s been going on with Irv lately, it looks unlikely that he’ll be making public appearances in the immediate future.
