Jeezy has made a drastic statement about how he’s going to approach dating in the future after splitting from his wife Jeannie Mai. The rapper has finally talked publicly about his surprise divorce in an interview with Nia Long.
Although the candid conversation covered a lot of topics, Jeezy stayed quiet about any new relationships since his divorce. The things he did say have got people speculating about what he might be looking for in a future partner.

MediaTakeOut reported that some people close to Jeezy implied that he might only be interested in dating Black women. In fact, the outlet claimed to have been told that he was “committed” to do just that.
While there is no evidence that there is someone new on the scene just yet, a lot of what Jeezy discussed with Nia seemed to suggest this might be the case. They talked about the importance of Black love, and for Black men to love Black women.
MediaTakeOut also reported that many of the issues between Jeezy and Jeannie had allegedly been “cultural” issues.
For example, Jeezy struggled with Jeannie’s decision to move her family into their Atlanta mansion. It was totally normal for her.
When Nia asked if the former couple had tried therapy, Jeezy confirmed that they had, but claimed that it didn’t help. Clues about what Jeezy felt went wrong in his marriage might be found in the title of his newest album, I Might Forgive… But I Don’t Forget.
Jeannie Was Devastated by the Divorce
In September of last year, Jeezy filed for divorce. He claimed in court filings that their marriage was irretrievably broken with no hope of reconciliation.
A week later, sources told People magazine that Jeannie was trying to save her marriage. They said she was hurt and devastated by what was going on.

The couple originally filed for joint custody of Monaco. But Jeezy has recently claimed that Jeannie was acting like a gatekeeper when it came to visiting his daughter.
In his interview with Nia, Jeezy said, “I can tell you that I am saddened. I can tell you that I am disappointed.” Considering how hard he is still taking the split, it might be a while until we hear anything more concrete about Jeezy’s new love life.
