In March 2024, multiple sources, including The Jasmine Brand, reported a shocking update to Jennifer Hudson and Common’s relationship. The Jasmine Brand based its allegations on claims made by an “inside source” to Radar Online. According to the Radar report, Jennifer is “hesitant to settle down with Common” because of his reputation as a “playboy.”
Radar claimed that inside sources had “snitched” on Jennifer, alleging that Common is “talking about settling down” with her. However, she “isn’t as gung-ho on getting hitched.”
The media outlet described Common as a “rapper” with a “notorious reputation as a player.” Allegedly, that’s the reason why Jennifer is so “hesitant.”
However, Radar also claims that Jennifer’s “history of heartache” has made her more apprehensive about taking her relationship with Common to the next level. So, what’s the real truth?
There’s zero doubt that Common’s romantic history is full of ex-lovers. He’s famously dated Serena Williams, Taraji P. Henson, and even Erykah Badu back in the day.
Before he met Jennifer, Common was seriously involved with actor-comedian Tiffany Haddish, and they lived together for a short time.

Jennifer is allegedly shaken with fear “about saying I do!” If this is the truth, it’s sad because the insider claims Common keeps trying to convince Jennifer that he wants to be in the relationship “for keeps.”
Shockingly, Jennifer tried to make her relationship with David work for nine long years. The insider says she believes she’ll be “back at square one” if she marries Common and they split.
Common Said His Relationship Is His Happy Place
This drama was nowhere to be seen on January 22, 2024, when a very personal guest appeared on Jennifer’s talk show. For the first time on television, Jennifer and Common publicly hinted that they were dating. While The Jasmine Brand said they spent the interview “gushing about each other’s accomplishments,” Common also admitted to Jennifer and the world that their relationship is his “happy place.”
After Jennifer and Common almost set the record straight on her talk show, Common traveled to Manhattan to appear on Today with Hoda & Jenna. He claimed, “We had a little fun, and it was great to be on The Jennifer Hudson Show.” He also asked, “Why not just be loving and honest with who I am and who we are?”
Common described himself as “very private” and that he knows “what things are sacred.” Though Common is known to have dated many women, he told Hoda and Jenna that his “relationships… are not for public consumption.” So is that why they only hinted at their relationship status on Jennifer’s talk show?
