Keke Palmer has been going through a difficult breakup. It’s been six months since she and her ex-boyfriend, Darius Jackson, announced their separation.
On November 9th, 2023, People Magazine reported that Keke filed for a restraining order against Darius. She also filed for full legal and physical custody of their son, Leodis. Ever since then, she and Darius have been locked in a legal battle.
But despite this situation, on January 3rd, Keke posted on Instagram, saying that she’s never been so happy in her life. The post was a video of her swimming in the sea together with a stingray.

She was holding the stingray on her chest while the stingray interacted with her and flapped its wings. In the video, Keke was smiling and calling the stingray a beautiful girl.
In the caption, she expressed that she’s been feeling good in her life lately. Keke wrote that she’s never been so happy in her life.
She also said that for her, 2024 has started exactly how she was hoping it would. She wrote: “Already 2024 has started off on the vibes I was looking for, more experiences and more enjoying what this beautiful world has to offer.”
Keke pointed out her smile in the video, which was on her face the whole time. She wrote that she doesn’t even recognize herself in the footage.
Keke also explained that she made a connection with the stingray. She summed everything up by saying that she was on cloud nine.
Keke Found Her Purpose in Life
A few days before, on January 1st, she posted a picture of a message written in the sand. It said: “Leo + Keke was here 2024.” The message was accompanied by a heart, also drawn in the sand.
In the caption, Keke simply put an emoji of two hands forming a heart. Her posts often focus on things other than her son and she doesn’t really post many pictures of him. So while he wasn’t actually in the photo, this was still one of the rare posts referencing Leo.
Keke also posted about him in February, for his first birthday. Leo was born on February 25th, 2023. A year later, on February 25th of this year, Keke made two posts celebrating his birthday.

The first one was a collection of photos and videos of Leo with different people doing various activities. In the caption, Keke poured her heart out and expressed how much love she has for her son and how happy she is to have him. She wrote the caption as a letter to Leo, wishing him a happy birthday.
Keke explained that since Leo was born, she’s found her purpose in life. She wrote: “I want to be here to love and protect you and watch you be the good in this world!” She also said that Leo’s silent strength gives her peace.
Keke wrote a lot about everything she would do for Leo, like run into a burning building for him. She ended the letter by saying thanking God for giving her Leo and expressing how much she loves him.
Keke Was Granted Temporary Sole Custody
The second post she made for Leo’s birthday was a video from the hospital after Leo was born. It showed the baby in a hospital baby bed, wrapped in a blanket and surrounded by toys.
Then Keke walked into the room, wearing a hospital gown, and walked up to the baby bed. She checked on Leo and tucked him in gently.
In the caption, Keke simply wrote: “I gave LIFE! Greatest day of my life. Nothing else matters.”
Back in the fall of last year, Keke was granted temporary sole custody of Leo, just a day after she filed for it. She was also granted the temporary restraining order she filed for.
This was all reported by People Magazine at the time. According to People, Darius was not allowed visitations with Leo.

A hearing was set for December 5th to find a long-term solution for their situation. As of now, there is still no final result to their court battle as the hearing was postponed.
In late December, Darius filed for his own restraining order against Keke, as reported by Page Six. Currently, their court date is set for July 16th.
Page Six reported this and explained the reason why their court date got postponed. According to the court documents, this is because they are currently engaged in mediation before a private judge.
One thing we don’t know is whether or not Keke is back on the dating scene after the breakup. As of now, she’s not shared any news of a new relationship.
