Kim Kardashian has sparked outrage for her birthday post about best friend Tracy Romulus. Kim took to Instagram to celebrate her friend, but fans slammed her for the unusual photos she chose to mark the occasion.
The photos, which were shared on Instagram Stories, show Kim posing in front of a mirror and taking selfies. “I love you so much for always keeping it 100%! You are the glue in our circle and we love you for being the realest at all times! And paying me no mind at the same time lol,” she captioned.
The only issue? Tracy seems completely unaware of the photos being taken. She is standing in the background while Kim is posing front and center. In some shots, Kim pouts or sticks her tongue out. Meanwhile, Tracy is either hidden by Kim or looking down at her phone. People online were quick to point out Kim’s choice of pictures.

“KIM is SO Gross and NARCISSISTIC that she makes HERSELF the CENTER OF ATTENTION to wish her BESTIE (and anyone else) a Happy Birthday,” wrote a Reddit user. “God forbid someone other than Kim have the spotlight for a millisecond,” added another social media user.
Who Is Kim’s Best Friend Tracy Romulus?
If you’re wondering who Tracy is and how she and Kim became friends, they actually work together. According to US Weekly, Tracy is the chief marketing officer of KKW Brands – the company behind brands like KKW Beauty, Skims and KKW Fragrance. “What makes work so incredibly fulfilling for me is that I get to work alongside such brilliant, inspiring, creative women — like Kim and Kris Jenner — and the most talented, hardest working team in the world. I feel incredibly blessed,” Tracy once told People.
However, she and Kim were close friends long before they started collaborating professionally. “The one thing I admire most about you is the fact that you are the same genuine person that I met that Monday night in NY 15 years ago,” Tracy shared on Instagram in a 2021 post in honor of Kim’s birthday. “Still the most beautiful, kindest, smartest, funniest and most fun person in the room.”
Tracy also used to work for Kim’s estranged ex-husband Kanye West as a publicist for the Yeezy brand, per US Weekly. According to The U.S. Sun, her husband, Ray Romulus, is a rapper and music producer who has worked with the likes of Mariah Carey, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars. The couple often spent time with Kim and Kanye when they were still together.
Tracy and Ray have three kids: Ryan, Remi and Raf. Their daughter Ryan is reportedly best friends with North.
