On one heartbreaking day in March 2024, Garrison Brown passed away in Flagstaff, Arizona. His cause of death was ruled a suicide.
Garrison was the son of Janelle Brown and Kody Brown. The family made waves in the reality TV world years prior via the TLC series “Sister Wives.” Garrison was only 25 years old.
Janelle and Kody have been separated for quite a while now, but they are apparently still lending each other support. Now, after months of public silence, it looks like Kody has spoken out about his late son.

In a recent interview with People Magazine, Kody said that he believed that he would have “more time” with his late son. He has since accepted that this is no longer possible. Before the debut of the newest season of “Sister Wives,” Kody said that he had accepted that he could have done more for his son, but didn’t.
“I’d get texts, stuff like that, and we could have, retrospectively, we could have done so much more,” Kody told People. He also noted that he regretted not making enough time to see Garrison in the months leading up to his passing.
Kody also said that having a child pass away is “strange.” He explained that “the wave of grief is different from any wave of grief I have ever had.”
Garrison’s Death Brought the Family Together
The newest season of “Sister Wives” just started airing in September 2024. The new season will likely focus on Garrison’s death and how the unconventional family will attempt to grieve their loss.
According to another recent writeup by People, Kody and Janelle have been brought closer together in the wake of their son Garrison’s sudden passing… at least, enough to offer periodic support to one another.
Janelle famously broke up with Kody in an earlier season of “Sister Wives,” as did Christine and Meri. This left Kody with only one “sister” wife, Robyn.

However, differences aside, Janelle and Kody seem to be attempting to support each other during this difficult time. Janelle spoke with People recently in an exclusive interview to talk about how her son’s death has brought their family a little bit closer together.
Janelle said that despite being quite busy, all of her children have made respective efforts to connect with one another. However, the “adults” (likely Kody and the “other” wives and former wives) try to live their “separate lives.” That being said, Janelle and Kody have been in touch in the last few months as they have grieved.
Janelle noted in the interview that she and Kody will check in on each other, but said that Kody is “grieving in his own way”. She also said that she lives a very “separate” life from her estranged husband, but does wish him and his separate family well.
Luckily, it looks like Janelle and Christine still enjoy a close “sister wife” relationship. Janelle said that she is still close with Christine despite having “very different” lives. It’s good to hear, considering what Janelle must be going through in the wake of her son’s death.
