The ‘situation’ at home just got a lot busier for Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. He and his wife, Lauren, welcomed baby number three on Wednesday, March 6th.
Their third child is a girl named Luna Lucia Sorrentino. Mike and Lauren celebrated her arrival in a joint Instagram post on March 7th.
They included happy family photos taken at the hospital after Luna arrived, and Lauren and Mike captioned their post, “Gym Tan Situation Family of 5!” One of the photos shows Mike cradling his new girl in the delivery room.
Baby Luna is swaddled up and wearing a beanie with a sweet bow. Mike is still dressed in hospital scrubs and wearing a hair net, and you can tell that he’s grinning happily behind his face mask.
Mike and Lauren wrote that they were overjoyed “to announce the newest member of our growing Italian family.” Their announcement included Luna’s birth time, 3:49 p.m., and her birth weight, 5 pounds, 6 ounces. They even mentioned how long little Luna is: 18.25 inches!
Their social media post concluded, “3 under 3 will be quite the situation, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Mike and Lauren Shared that “Good Things Come in Threes”
Entertainment Tonight reported the baby news and a brief history of the Sorrentino family. Mike and Lauren got married in November 2018, and their first child is their son, Romeo, who is now two years old.
In September 2023, Mike and Lauren shared that they were expecting Luna. Their joint Instagram announcement included a sweet photo of Lauren with her baby bump and their second child, daughter Mia, along with sonograms. Little Mia was born in January 2023.
Mike and Lauren captioned their third pregnancy announcement, “Good things come in threes, adding another pumpkin to our patch. Baby #3 coming March 2024.”
Page Six reported that Mike and Lauren have been together since their college days. They had actually planned to start their family the year after they got married, but the young couple faced a devastating setback.
Before they were blessed with their son, Lauren and Mike suffered a miscarriage that they admitted was a “real difficult” experience. They appeared on ABC’s “Strahan, Sara and Keke” show in 2019, and Lauren confessed how she was feeling.
Lauren said, “I didn’t want to hold this in. I wanted to share it for other people going through it and just be honest, so I can kind of heal through the process.”
Us Weekly interviewed Lauren and Mike in 2020. She shared that her devastating pregnancy loss brought her and Mike “closer” together.
Mike Has Been Sober for 8 Years
Mike celebrated another number recently. In December 2023, he reached eight successful years on his sobriety journey. In an interview with ET, Mike revealed that he still faces temptations. This is especially true when filming his reality show, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.
He told ET, “I mean, there are always temptations,” but Mike said that when he thought about it, “I’m like, ‘Oh my god…’ I can’t believe I’ve come so far.” Mike claimed he had “the secret sauce.” In a nod to Lauren and his kids, Mike admitted, “What’s working for me is God and family.”
But Mike also confessed that a bit of vanity helped him, too. He told ET that when he looked at his healthy body in the mirror, “I’m like, “Wow, I’m just a tough ‘SOB,’” and he laughed about that.
Mike and the Jersey Shore gang are adding many new members to their “family.” Page Six counted down the number of kids that each star currently has.
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is mom to two boys and a girl. Jenni “JWoww” Farley has a boy and a girl. Deena Nicole Cortese has two boys, while DJ Pauly D and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro both have a daughter.
