Monica and Brandy Were Pitted Against Each Other By the Media
Later that same day, Monica took to Instagram and posted a story with a message directed towards Ray J. She talked about being contacted by people wanting to interview her about the possibility of her going on tour. Then she let everyone know that she hadn’t gotten any contracts or phone calls about the supposed tour.
She asked Ray J to stop speaking about her in public. Monica explained that a private conversation between them would be both necessary and respectful.
In the past, she and Brandy have talked openly about how they felt pitted against each other by the media. According to Pitchfork, during their Verzuz performance, the two women revealed that there was no bad blood between them and that they had the utmost love and respect for each other.
In her Instagram story, Monica continued to show admiration for Brandy when she described her as a legend. She said she was one of one, with an extensive catalog that she respected and a voice sent from heaven.
Directing her words back to Ray J, Monica explained that having a public conversation about the hypothetical tour without her or Brandy had led to a lot of confusion. She also made it clear that she didn’t appreciate his comment about how she should be the one to open.
She reminded Ray J that she and Brandy were both professionals who shared a massive recording as well as an entire era. Monica asked him to allow things to remain positive and beautiful.
In her opinion, she believed that neither of them should open. She said that they should give someone else that opportunity, and they should co-headline a massive shared stage if a tour were to ever happen.

According to Revolt, the last time she and Monica performed together, the pair set an all-time record with 1.2 million watching their Verzuz battle.
