Nelly’s ex, Shantel Jackson, went through a lot with her former boyfriend Floyd Mayweather. Long before she started dating Nelly, Shantel was basically fighting for her life with the infamous boxer.
Their toxic relationship began in 2006 when Shantel was working as a hostess for an event that Floyd was attending. The couple started dating afterward.

Floyd very quickly started spending lots of money on his new girlfriend. According to The Daily Mail, he even bought her a diamond ring worth $2.5 million. Floyd also allegedly bought her over 100 designer handbags and lots of designer clothing.
While these gifts may have been wonderful, they came at a heavy price. As the relationship continued, Floyd allegedly became more and more controlling of Shantel.
It started with him demanding that she stop working. He wanted her accessible to him at all times.
He also wanted her to change her last name to Jackson-Mayweather, even though they weren’t technically married. Shantel went through with it, changing her last name to please him.
Floyd Was Accused of DV
In 2012, Floyd got into trouble after one of his exes, Josie Harris, accused him of DV. He was arrested and eventually found guilty.
Josie claimed that Floyd had twisted her arm in front of their two children. Shantel supported Floyd, saying that he didn’t do that to her.
However, a few days after Floyd was released from prison, he reportedly did the exact same thing to her. While they were at home, Floyd suddenly became very jealous and angry and demanded to see Shantel’s phone.
When she refused, he grabbed her arm and twisted it just as Josie had described he had done to her., except Floyd took things even further with Shantel. He also allegedly choked her and forced the phone away from her so that he could look at it and see who she had been talking to.
Like with any toxic relationship, a few days later, Floyd became apologetic and promised that he wouldn’t do that to her again. Moving forward in time, Shantel found herself working, despite Floyd’s wishes.
While she was working, Floyd contacted her and asked her for the security code she used to enter her home in Las Vegas. This particular home was one she used to share with Floyd but now mostly used to store her belongings.
Shantel gave him the code. After she was done working, she returned to the home to find that all of her expensive clothing, accessories, and personal items had been taken. When she asked Floyd what happened, he admitted he had taken them.
He said that he wanted to test her and see how she acted without all those possessions. In particular, he wanted to see how important those items were to her. Floyd eventually returned her items and made another promise to change his behavior.
Floyd Threatened Shantel with a Weapon
By 2013, however, Shantel had had enough. She moved to Los Angeles and put her things from her Las Vegas home into a storage building.
Floyd contacted Shantel and told her that he had found out which moving company she had used. He knew exactly what storage lockers she owned to store her items and allegedly hired someone to break into one of those lockers and steal the items there. The belongings the thief took amounted to about $1 million.
Despite their problems, Floyd still wanted Shantel back with him. He wooed her back with gifts and sweet words. When he sent a private jet to collect her in April 2013, Shantel took it and returned to him.
Their next fight, however, would be the most frightening. As usual, the couple started to argue again, but this time, Floyd escalated things.
Shantel told him that she was going to leave him again, and he became really angry. Floyd ended up taking out a firearm and grabbed her arm, bending it and restraining her.
While he was holding her in the position, he pointed the weapon at her foot and asked her which toe she wanted him to shoot off. Although he thankfully didn’t shoot off any toes, Floyd did take back the $2.5 million ring he had given her. He also took her other jewelry and ordered his employees to take her clothes, purses, shoes, phone, credit card, and ID.
At that point, Shantel was a prisoner in his home. She wasn’t allowed to leave except with one of his employees.
Floyd kept constant surveillance over her the entire time, too. When he had to leave town in June, Shantel finally had her chance to escape.
Floyd Doxxed Shantel
She managed to escape the home and began the process of returning to California. That was when she discovered that one of her storage lockers had been broken into.
Floyd contacted Shantel and admitted that he had someone steal her items, but he’d return them to her if she came back to him. Shantel refused to return, so Floyd started to threaten her. He said that he was going to release information to the public if she didn’t return.
Shantel still refused and moved away. Floyd found out where she was living in Los Angeles and doxxed her, posting the address of the home online. Shantel’s home was swarmed with fans and paparazzi, making life far more difficult for her.
Floyd even started posting pictures of the items that he had stolen from her storage locker online. At this point, you might think that Shantel was finally done with Floyd. That wasn’t the case, however.
Floyd eventually sent a private jet her way so that she could watch one of his fights. Shantel agreed to give the relationship another try and visited him once more.
When things didn’t change, she said that they could continue their relationship, but she was going to keep living in Los Angeles. Things became more complicated when Shantel discovered that she was pregnant with Floyd’s children.
When Floyd found out, he demanded that she move back to Las Vegas with him. Shantel didn’t want to, however, and Floyd started to verbally harm her.
He claimed that he had taken her from the hood and that he should have left her there instead. Then he claimed that she was nobody, and he had made her who she was.
Shantel Left Once and For All
Shantel chose to terminate the pregnancy in January 2014. When she met with Floyd again, he once more allegedly attacked her.
She claimed that they got into another argument, and when she was going to leave, he grabbed her arm and dragged her into the condo they were renting. He then blocked the door, not allowing her to leave for more than an hour.
At this point, Shantel had finally had enough. She returned to Los Angeles and started dating Nelly.

When she posted a picture of herself with Nelly at a basketball game, Floyd was not happy. He contacted her and told her that if she didn’t take the photo down, he was going to start posting revealing pictures of her. Floyd claimed that he had taken the photos of her when she was asleep.
He then made things even nastier by posting a picture of an ultrasound of the pregnancy that Shantel had terminated. In the photo, he said that the real reason he and Shantel broke up was because she had ended the lives of their twin babies.
Shantel called this moment the ultimate humiliation because she had only told one friend about the pregnancy at that time. Not even her family knew. The public came after her, too, asking her why she had ended the lives of Floyd’s children.
Shantel and Nelly Eventually Split
Shantel eventually sued him for battery, extortion, imprisonment, and stealing from her. The next chapter of her dating life was with Nelly, who she dated for seven years before the couple called it quits.
Thankfully, the reason for their split was far less dramatic than her split from Floyd. During an interview with The Real, Shantel explained that she began to focus more on her brand, Shoe Gummi, and didn’t join Nelly on the road as often.
As a result, they stopped spending as much time together and started to drift apart. When they broke up, neither of them had bad feelings toward one another.
She claimed that she still talks to his mother and her own mother still talks to his mother. While things didn’t work out with Nelly, Shantel successfully left a toxic relationship with Floyd, and that’s an amazing achievement all on its own.
