Everyone knows Gypsy Rose had a troubled childhood before spending her young adult life in prison. However, she is quickly making up for the lost time by traveling, starring in TV shows, and now, getting pregnant. Gypsy’s ex, Ryan Anderson, finally spoke out and he has some surprising thoughts on her relationship.
To get a better understanding of Ryan’s thoughts on Gyspy, we have to go back to the beginning of their relationship. Ryan was Gypsy’s pen pal while she was in prison. He is a special education teacher from Louisiana who got engaged and married to Gypsy while she was in prison.
However, Ryan was not Gyspy’s first prison lover. Before Ryan came into the picture, Gypsy was in a relationship with another pen pal named Ken Urker. The two were engaged, but they broke up before ever getting married.
Neither Ryan nor Ken knew Gypsy before she went to prison. The man who Gypsy dated and helped her escape from her mother Dee Dee was Nicholas Godejohn. The two broke up before their respective cases went to trial.
Gypsy’s First Prison Fling
A lot of questions about Gypsy’s relationships have been answered in her various TV documentaries and interviews, but one question that prevails is why she and Ken split up.
Gypsy and Ken were together for two years before calling it quits. Gypsy was in prison for their entire relationship, but the two had marriage plans. However, according to People Magazine, Gypsy recounted the details of the breakup in Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup.
She explained, “Right before we were going to get married, he ended the relationship. It devastated me. I think he pretty much gave me every breakup line the book.”
She was clearly heartbroken. It also sounds like Ken was Gypsy’s first real love.
Of course, Ryan Anderson came into the picture shortly after, and the two eventually got married. An article from Capital stated that Gypsy later claimed that she believed Ken broke up with her because of her Hulu show The Act.
After Gypsy got out of prison, it appeared that she and Ryan were going to lead a pretty happy life. That soon fell apart as she ran back to Ken and filed for divorce from Ryan.
Ryan Speaks Out
A lot has changed since the beginning of 2024, Gypsy filed for divorce for divorce from Ryan, got back together with Ken, and is now expecting a baby. However, it appears Ryan is having trouble moving on, as he recently shared his thoughts on Gypsy’s relationship in a livestream.
Ryan said he believed Gypsy would still be with him if she hadn’t gotten pregnant. However, that overlooks the glaring problem that Gypsy clearly cheated on him.
Ryan’s situation is truly heartbreaking, considering how long he supported Gypsy. In reality, even if Gypsy hadn’t gotten pregnant from Ken, she probably would have continued cheating on Ryan until she ultimately decided to leave him.
Unfortunately, the worst may not be over for Ryan, as the two are still legally married. Louisiana has a presumption of paternity law that specifies that the married partner is assumed to be the husband unless the father takes a paternity test. This means that unless Ken takes a paternity test, Ryan will be listed as the father on the baby’s birth certificate.
