Country singer Sam Hunt has opened up about getting into trouble with his wife, Hannah Lee Fowler. In an interview with Taste of Country, Sam talked about how “forgiving” Hannah was with him.
However, he also shared that there was a line he would not let her cross when getting him into trouble. When asked if Hannah ever told him not to sleep in their bed, he said, “I also have a rule that I’m not sleeping on the couch.”

Although what he said was pretty extreme, it’s not like Sam and Hannah’s relationship has been free of drama. The singer’s past mistakes have caused a lot of problems for the people who care about him, particularly his wife. However, he has used his latest hit, “Locked Up,” to show that his relationship is strong enough to hold up against any obstacle.
Hannah Was Reluctant to Star in the Music Video
Sam first performed the song during CRS 2023. He soon released a music video, which actually starred his wife in a supporting role, as well as paying tribute to Johnny Cash’s iconic Folsom Prison show.
The star talked to Taste of Country about how he persuaded his wife to star in the video. He said that he expected Hannah to be “reluctant”, which she was, however, “she agreed to it with some coaxing.”
The song expresses Sam’s feelings of regret over his actions leading up to his scandalous arrest in 2019 for a DUI. Among the lyrics, Sam sings about everything going wrong that night and states that he should have just stayed at home.
The video shows Sam performing for prisoners in the Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary, Tennessee, in an homage to Johnny’s own prison gig. Throughout his performance for the inmates, Hannah looks on in support.
As well as an admission of regret, the song is a tribute from Sam to his wife for sticking by his side through his arrest. He sings about picking up the phone to tell Hannah what he has done. He even admits to thinking that she would “walk away” after he told her.
Their Marriage Almost Ended in 2022
It’s not as if Hannah has never had her doubts about her marriage to Sam. According to People Magazine, Hannah actually filed for divorce in early 2022.
Hannah also alleged that Sam had cheated on her. In court documents obtained by TMZ, she claimed that Sam was guilty of “inappropriate marital conduct” and “adultery.”
At the time, she was pregnant with the couple’s first child, which was only revealed as part of the early divorce proceedings. But by April of the same year, Hannah had a change of heart and requested that the court dismiss her case.
The following month, she gave birth to the couple’s daughter, Lucy Louise. Their second child and first son, Lowry Lee, was born last October.
Last week, it was reported in People Magazine that Sam and Hannah walked the red carpet together for the first time after patching things up. They attended the CMT Awards together at the Moody Center in Texas several hours before Sam performed his new song.
However, although it was clear that their marriage was back on track, Sam’s later performance left a lot of people unsatisfied. The Mirror reported that his new rendition of Locked Up drew a “mixed reaction” from onlookers.
Fans flocked to Twitter to voice their opinions on the show. One wrote that Sam’s performance was “horrible”, while another described it as “brutal.”
Despite the naysayers, it seems as if Sam must’ve enjoyed having his forgiving wife back on his arm after the tough times they’ve gone through together.
