Sam Hunt and his wife, Hannah Lee Fowler, were together for years. But then everything came crashing down when Hannah filed for divorce from Sam and made some serious accusations against him. Things then took a crazy turn, and you’ll never believe what happened.
Sam Hunt is one of the most famous country singers out there right now. But he has been constantly making headlines for his up-and-down relationship with his now-wife, Hannah. Almost all of his music is about her, and he’s been very open about their breakups and issues in the past.

Sam and Hannah were together before he was famous and broke up as his fame grew, and he allegedly became a serial cheater. His songs like “Break Up in a Small Town,” “Make You Miss Me,” and “Cop Car” were all about Hannah Lee.
But his music about her really made headlines when he released “Drinking Too Much,” and called her out by name in the lyrics. In the song, he admitted to substance issues, cheating on her, and his ego going out of control as he became more and more famous.
Sam Wrote Several Songs About Hannah
When he released “Drinking Too Much,” the two were already back together and on the fast track to getting married, despite the ups-and-downs of their past relationship. They even claimed that everything was better between them and that they had fixed all of their issues — and then they got married in 2017.
After that, Sam pretty much disappeared from the spotlight. He barely released any new music after he came back with his biggest hit, “Body Like a Backroad.” There were a lot of rumors that he did this because he and Hannah were worried that if he got back into the country music world, his cheating would start again.
So, for a while, it seemed like Sam was really determined to make this marriage work. He seemed to be prioritizing his relationship with Hannah, but then things took a turn for the worse when, in 2019, Sam got arrested for driving under the influence.

What he did was seriously insane…Sam was supposedly driving the wrong way down the road at 4 A.M., and he actually blew more than two times over the legal limit. He was pulled over and admitted that he had been drinking.
Then, two years later, he pleaded guilty and had to serve 48 hours in a DUI Education Center. He also took an alcohol safety course. Ever since then, his marriage with Hannah has pretty much been unraveling. Hannah filed for divorce from Sam at the beginning of 2022, but then immediately withdrew the filing a day later.
Her reason? She allegedly filed the divorce in the wrong jurisdiction. Some people were not convinced by that explanation, though. Given her and Sam’s up-and-down relationship, who knows if that was the real reason why she immediately withdrew the filing?
I mean, when Hannah filed for divorce, a representative did state that all hopes of reconciliation had been exhausted. So, what changed? Well, the story is actually kind of complicated.

Hannah filed for divorce from Sam on February 18, after being married for over four years. Media outlets were later able to tell from the divorce papers that Hannah was pregnant with her and Sam’s first child at the time, but no one actually knew that back then.
The couple hadn’t announced the news by the time of the divorce filing. It was actually pretty bizarre t hat people found out about her being pregnant through their divorce papers, but there’s more. You see, another telling sign that Hannah really wanted out at the time was that she was desperate enough to make two filings within hours.
She withdrew the first one because it was filed in the wrong county but followed it up immediately with a second filing in Williamson County, Tennessee. However, she included a notice of voluntary nonsuit the second time around.
This basically gives the person filing for the divorce the automatic right to cancel the divorce filing at any time without any further explanation. This obviously struck many people as really weird. Why would she put that in?

It’s almost as if she wasn’t too sure that she was actually going to go through with the divorce, despite accusing her husband of being unfaithful and citing irreconcilable differences. In the filing, she also claimed that Sam had cheated on her and also harmed her.
In fact, according to TMZ, the filing went as far as stating that if Hannah was to continue living with Sam, it would be unsafe for her. So, it seemed like things might’ve been super serious. And like they might truly not get back together this time around.
I mean, she said that he had harmed her… That’s a serious accusation…Hannah also asked for child support and to have primary custody of their child, as well as for the court to divide their shared property equally.

Even though Hannah only filed for divorce in February and said that she separated from him on that same day, there were actually a bunch of signs that Hannah and Sam were having issues even before this.
For one, Sam was spotted not wearing his wedding ring. So, it didn’t exactly come as a shock when this whole thing went down. What did shock everyone, though, was what happened next. Because around the time that the baby was born, Hannah actually withdrew the filing altogether.
This happened almost three months after she first filed for the divorce. It was mostly silence from the moment she filed until the time she formally called off the divorce proceedings, and the whole thing was just kind of weird. Who knows if her initial allegations were true?
But either way, she made them. I was honestly really concerned for her when I heard that they got back together yet again. They’re allegedly working out their marriage now. Sam’s pretty much withdrawn from the spotlight as much as possible yet again.
Probably because he still believes that fame is what causes issues in their marriage, and also because supposedly, Hannah really loves her privacy and doesn’t enjoy the fame aspect of Sam’s music career. And after everything that went down, it would make sense for him to do this for her.
In December 2023, the two welcomed their second child. So yes, they appear to be still together and even had a second baby since all the divorce drama went down.

Honestly, Sam and Hannah’s relationship has pretty much always been like this — messy and complicated and always off-again-on-again.
The two reportedly met in 2008, with some people theorizing that they might have originally met when Sam played football for the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 2005 to 2007. While they’ve mostly kept their relationship pretty private, Sam’s songwriting has revealed some stuff about his struggling romance with Hannah.
He even named his debut album Montevallo after her hometown in Alabama. Sam and Hannah actually split sometime after the release of the album in 2014 but got back together in 2016, after Sam made several attempts to convince her to get back together with him.
In January 2017, they got engaged during a trip to Israel. Sam actually popped the question over by the Sea of Galilee. The public only got to find out about this romantic detail weeks after their engagement was announced. But even the proposal wasn’t exactly perfect.
In an interview, Sam revealed that he and Hannah actually had a fight right before this that almost ruined his big plans. Around the same time that he proposed to Hannah, he released the single “Drinking Too Much.” Like I said, the song was clearly about Hannah, and he used the song’s lyrics to apologize to her for all of his past mistakes.
Following the song, things kind of settled between the couple, with Hannah even agreeing to attend the ACM Awards with him.. And a few weeks after their appearance at the ACM awards, the pair got married in an intimate ceremony in Georgia. No one knew about it until after the wedding.
You can just see the length Sam and Hannah are willing to go to protect their privacy, but they haven’t always been successful at keeping all this private, mainly because of Sam’s many mistakes. It’s clear that their relationship has been far from perfect.
I’m not really confident that they’ll be able to work things out. And I’m honestly not even sure if they should.
