Country star Megan Moroney has found a lot of success with her newest album Am I Okay?, which was released on July 12. The whole of Am I Okay? is quite beautiful. It’s the singer’s second album and a real country gem.
Moroney released the album a little over a year after her debut album, Lucky, in 2023. The album boasts a ton of delightful tracks, one of which is the song “Heaven By Noon.”

The singer recently opened up about the meaning behind the song in an interview with Today’s Country host Kelleigh Bannen. According to Moroney, the song was written about her late uncle, whom she didn’t outright name. Moroney’s uncle was killed during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center that rocked the world on September 11, 2001.
“The song is inspired…” Moroney paused during her interview with Today’s Country. “A lot of people don’t know this, but my uncle died on 9/11. So, I kind of thought about my aunt when I was writing that song.”
Megan Moroney’s Heartbreaking Connection To 9/11
Moroney went on to talk about her uncle and her aunt’s last conversation before he unfortunately lost his life. The lyrics “Did you know how much I loved you? / Did I tell you enough? / I’ve been cryin’ since I got the call / Been beatin’ myself up,” really exemplify the perspective Moroney took when writing the beautiful ballad.

“The last thing they talked about was an oil change,” Moroney continued. “And so, that’s probably not what she would have wanted to say to him if she knew it was gonna be the last time. It’s definitely a heart-wrenching song.”
Moroney was born in 1997, so she would have been close to four years old when the terrorist attacks occurred in 2001.
Other Musicians Who Are Connected To 9/11
Moroney is far from the only famous musician to have a heartbreaking connection to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Lady Gaga has spoken often about her experience when the Twin Towers fell. The “Bad Romance” singer was only a teen at the time when the attacks took place in New York City, but she remembers watching it unfold from the roof of her high school.
“So we didn’t believe it, so we ran up to the roof and I just remember we got up to the roof, and one tower had already fallen and we all watched the second tower fall all together,” Gaga said in an MTV News interview from 2011. “[My school] was miles and miles away, but the sky that hovered above us was jet black.”
The late Michael Jackson is another artist connected to the attacks. Allegedly, Jackson would have very likely been killed.
He was slated to have a meeting at the very top of the WTC towers the morning of the attacks. However, he had a late-night phone call with his mother and sister that caused him to oversleep. He missed his flight that next morning.
Gerard Way also famously started the famous alternative rock band My Chemical Romance after grappling with the frailty of life after 9/11 occurred not far from where he lived in New Jersey.
