Eddie Murphy recently dropped an unexpected bombshell during a podcast interview, when he referred to his longtime fiancée, Paige Butcher, as his wife. It turns out that they really did get married during a private ceremony in July.
Since the couple has always been pretty quiet about their relationship, most people don’t know a whole lot about Paige. But the details surrounding her past romances and the dynamic she has with Eddie and his kids are seriously crazy.

According to People Magazine, Eddie tied the knot with Paige, an Australian model, on July 9. Their ceremony ended a nearly 6-year engagement, but they’ve actually been together for almost 12 years. This means when they first started dating, Eddie was 51, while Paige was 33.
The couple shares two children, an 8-year-old daughter, Izzy, and a 5-year-old son, Max. However, Eddie has 8 other kids with 4 different women. That makes Paige his fifth baby mama. She’s only 10 years older than his oldest child, Eric, who is 34 years old.
Paige Has an Interesting Dating History
Even though she doesn’t have any other children and her marriage to Eddie is her first, her relationship history is still pretty fascinating.
According to Heavy, Paige was briefly linked to fellow model Tyson Beckford in 2009. However, when Tyson was interviewed by DJ Vlad in 2021, he claimed that he and Paige started dating in 2007.
He said that at first, they had an on-and-off type of relationship, but what happened next was unbelievable. Despite what many online reports have stated about Paige and Tyson’s supposed brief fling, it sounds like they tried to be in a relationship for quite a while.
Tyson explained that in 2008, he and Paige restarted their romance. For some unknown reason, it ended the following year for good.
Even though things didn’t work out between Tyson and Paige, he had nothing but positive things to say about her. He called her amazing and said that she has a good spirit and a good heart. Not only that, but he also mentioned that Eddie is “a lucky guy to keep” Paige in his life.
Heavy also reported that after Paige and Tyson went their separate ways, she started dating music mogul Russell Simmons in 2010. Their relationship came to an end in 2011, one year before Paige and Eddie began dating.
Paige Is Very Close with Eddie’s Kids
Obviously, Eddie and Paige have been together for a while now. However, there’s an age gap of almost 20 years between them and he already had so many kids.
Not surprisingly, a lot of people have wondered how Paige felt about dating a much older family man and ultimately taking on the role of stepmother to his 8 children.
But according to what a source told People Magazine in 2018, Paige is extremely family-oriented, just like Eddie. The insider added that she “is very close with Eddie’s kids” and is a super involved mom.

The source also claimed that Paige and Eddie’s blended family is very special. They spend a lot of time together. They allegedly love gathering for holidays, and even go on vacations together as a big group.
Not to mention, Paige has made numerous public appearances with Eddie’s children over the years. She was just spotted at an event recently with some of his kids, and their body language spoke volumes.
ABC News reported that Paige showed her support for Eddie when she attended the world premiere of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F in June. The couple was joined by three of Eddie’s daughters, Bella, Bria, and Shayne Audra. When they posed for photos, all five of them gathered closely and put their arms around each other.
Paige Keeps Eddie “on a Tight Leash”
Even though Paige seemingly has close relationships with Eddie’s kids, how she gets along with his exes is a different story. According to People Magazine, Paige and Eddie attended the premiere of his daughter Bria’s movie, Amateur Night, in July 2016. However, Bria’s mother and Eddie’s ex-wife, Nicole Murphy, also showed up to the event to support her daughter.
What happened when Paige, the former couple, and their daughters all ended up in the same area together was unreal. Believe it or not, the five of them smiled as they posed for pictures together and even wrapped their arms around each other. Judging by the photos taken that night, Paige and Nicole didn’t appear to have any issues with one another.
Apparently, Eddie’s friends may have mixed feelings about Paige, and the reason why is honestly insane. According to what sources recently told Radar Online, Paige rules the household and supposedly keeps Eddie “on a tight leash.”
One insider explained that he’s “been well trained” and doesn’t hesitate when she expects him to help with household chores. Not only that, but Eddie reportedly covers the cost of the bills and pretty much everything else.
However, sources alleged that he’s fine with paying for it all and is happy that Paige keeps him in line. One insider added that he supposedly loves her “no-nonsense attitude” and wouldn’t change anything about their home life. She seems to balance out his joking personality, as seen in his many interviews.
Another source claimed that Eddie’s friends can’t believe that he lets Paige call all of the shots in their house. They reportedly joke behind his back about how he’s such “a henpecked pushover” now since they never thought he would be a yes-man to anybody. Even though his friends are somewhat puzzled by how drastically different he is from the ‘old’ Eddie, the insider said that “if he’s happy, they’re happy too.”
Paige Volunteered with Habitat for Humanity
Based on what Paige has previously mentioned, it sounds like she’s always enjoyed having tasks to do and being active. In a 2013 interview with Vanity Fair, Paige admitted that she likes to stay busy. Her favorite hobbies involve being outdoors.
She said that she really loves gardening and furniture restoration. But it turns out that her passion is building things, which she discovered in a truly incredible way.
Paige explained that when she started volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, she learned a lot while building houses for people in need. She added that she knows how to set up electrical wiring, lay drywall, pave brick paths, and so much more.
Paige admitted that she’s a perfectionist, and has even spent months building her own structures at home. She recently finished constructing a cabana-style hut with a grass roof, complete with curtains on the windows and a TV.
Even though Paige has picked up quite a few skills from Habitat for Humanity, that’s not why she decided to help them build houses.
In a video uploaded by the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles’ YouTube channel in 2013, she explained the real reason she volunteers. Paige added that everybody deserves to have a home. She loves being able to help build houses that people will feel safe and comfortable living in.
She also told Vanity Fair that she helps out at homeless shelters and Wheels for Humanity as well, where she restores donated wheelchairs for people in need who are living in third-world countries. Paige genuinely seems like a very caring person, even if Eddie’s friends think she’s too strict with him sometimes.
Paige Has No Social Media
There is a bit of a mysterious side to her as well, mainly because she has no interest in publicly sharing any details surrounding her personal life or marriage that people can’t already find out about online. Paige revealed during the interview that she had deleted all of her social media accounts quite a while ago. She explained that because of her relationship with Eddie, she felt like there are plenty of details about her in the public eye, as it is.
It wasn’t just Paige’s romance with Eddie that made her want to delete her profiles, though. She claimed that her posts were boring anyway since she never shared anything other than her volunteer work. Because she prefers “to keep as much private as possible,” it just made sense to her to get rid of social media altogether.
Even though Paige and Eddie just recently got married, they’ve spent the last 12 years building an incredible life together. It sounds like she has great relationships with his children, gets along with his exes, and appreciates their big, happy family just as much as he does.
