Lainey Wilson won her first Grammy Award in 2023. She should be the happiest country music star alive, yet she continues to struggle with the hate from fans.
Wilson is an artist who works hard for everything she has achieved. She continues to write music that matters to her and performs with her heart on her sleeve. Recently, she attended Congress to talk about the dangers of AI to the music industry.

Yet, despite the fame and the success, she struggles mentally. She opened up on Good Morning America about her struggles, both internally and due to haters online.
A TikTok Video Affected Her Mental Health
Lainey Wilson told Robin Roberts that in November 2022, she suffered from a bout of body confidence. It all started with some TikTok videos that showed off her butt.
This wasn’t a “small viral moment,” as she put it. The videos continued to circulate for months, turning it into something much bigger than she initially thought.
Wilson knows that her butt is on the larger side, and she wondered how people had only just noticed that. She has body confidence issues now and then, just like everyone.
However, she decided to brush off the comments and focus on the positive. New people were finding her music.
Wilson had to focus on how the likes of Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire would handle such comments. She channeled them to move forward.
Haters Will Always Hate Lainey Wilson
Despite all her successes and experience, Wilson admitted that she still gets nervous going out on stage. Whether it’s a crowd of 20 people or 20,000 people, she will struggle with nerves as she gets ready to perform, according to American Song Writer. That’s because she knows that she can’t please everyone.
She faced a lot of rejection over the years. While she is tough and is built for the country music industry in that way, it doesn’t make the rejection and the heartache any easier.
To make it harder for her, nobody seemed to care that while she was building a career, she struggled at home. Her father had been diagnosed with mucormycosis, a rare fungal infection that most people don’t survive.
She didn’t want to leave her dad’s side, but he encouraged her to follow this dream of hers. If he was meant to be here to see her, he would be.
There would be no hard feelings from him if he didn’t make it and she would have to attend his funeral instead. Wilson headed to Montana to film Yellowstone and hoped for the best.
Despite all the hate, Wilson doesn’t give in to it. Instead, she continues to work hard, which has led to her celebrating her first Grammy Award win in 2023.
She wants to be someone young girls can look up to. If they work hard, they can follow their dreams, too. Success is there, and Wilson has been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry as a member to prove that.
