Recently in an interview, rapper and actor Common said if he was ever going to get married, it would be to his current partner, actress and singer Jennifer Hudson. In response to the comment, his ex-girlfriend Tiffany Haddish took to social media to make a comment.
For a bit of backstory, Tiffany Haddish, who is an accomplished actress and stand-up comedian, briefly dated Common from mid-2020 to late 2021. They first met during filming for “The Kitchen” which is a movie the pair starred in together that released in 2019. While it started as a platonic friendship between the two, it eventually developed into a romantic relationship over the years.
Tiffany said that Common had tried to date her for a while before she eventually agreed to try it out. However, it was short-lived as the relationship barely lasted a year before it ended. She had said the breakup wasn’t mutual as she claimed it was Common who said that the relationship had run its course.

Soon after it ended, he starred in the movie “Breathe” alongside talented singer and actress Jennifer Hudson, who got her start in the industry on American Idol and wowed audiences with her role in the movie “Dreamgirls” in 2006, which won her an Oscar.
After they met filming the movie, the pair eventually began dating, but didn’t fully confirm their relationship until January 2024. According to Common, the relationship has been wonderful and unlike any other he’s had.
During a recent interview, Common spoke about his connection to Jennifer. Specifically, he said “With all due respect to all the women I’ve dated… it’s all love, but this is a really healthy and beautiful relationship…”
He also likes that they both hail from Chicago, as he said that “I’m going to be real real with you, like, having a lady just from Chicago allows me to go home and just be home.” He said that being able to go home and just relax and recharge without worrying about work, which ultimately helped him with the new album he recently released.

Common also said that if he were to ever get married, it’d be to Jennifer Hudson. The interview where he said these things was shared on social media, and caught the eye of his ex, Tiffany Haddish.
Someone in the comments posted “well there he said it he wants to marry her he aint neva said that about no woman b4.” In response to this, Tiffany posted “EXACTLY! I hope they actually get married..”
While some people think this is Tiffany throwing shade at Common, according to her, this couldn’t be further from the truth. She’s said she was happy for Common and his new relationship, and has also said that she loves Jennifer and hopes that the pair is having fun.
