Lamar Odom is best known for his successful NBA career as a two-time NBA championship winner, having played for the Lakers, the Clippers and the Mavericks. He’s also known for his high-profile relationship with Khloe Kardashian.
According to Women’s Health Magazine, the couple’s relationship evolved pretty quickly and they were married shortly after meeting each other in 2009. After a few years, they separated and things got a bit crazy. Lamar struggled with addiction, and this led to their relationship getting into some seriously rocky terrain.
If you’re wondering what actually happened to Lamar after all of the turmoil he and Khloe went through, then you’re in the right place. Here’s what we know about him:
Lamar Odom’s Overdose
Back in 2013, Khloe filed for divorce, marking the end of her relationship with Lamar, according to Women’s Health Magazine. However, he didn’t respond for months, and the papers weren’t signed until 2015. However, a traumatic episode involving drugs would put their divorce process on hold.
It seems Lamar nearly passed away from an overdose at a legal brothel in Nevada. He was found unconscious and was reported to have had a few strokes after indulging in a large amount of cocaine and herbal stimulants.

Khloe temporarily withdrew her divorce papers to look after him and make medical decisions for him while he was ill and couldn’t direct his own treatment.
This time was clearly rock-bottom for Lamar, and he has since made strides in getting his life back on track. Now, he’s actually making a big difference in his community and helping others avoid the mistakes he once made.
Lamar Odom’s Life Transformation
Now, Lamar is a big investor in drug treatment centers. As reported by TMZ, he claims to be happier than ever helping people and saving lives. So far, he has acquired at least 3 rehab centers in California and is working to help others avoid the pain he himself experienced not so long ago.
This turnaround has helped him reclaim his own life and positive outlook. Having survived an overdose, Lamar certainly has a deeper understanding of the kinds of issues addicts may be going through.
It seems as though he has found a positive way to channel that experience into his community and help others kick their habits.
What Lamar Said About Khloe: ‘That I Love Her …’
When asked about Khloe and what he would like to say to her, Lamar had nothing but love to offer. He was reported by E Online to have said:
“That I love her and that I’m grateful and that I miss her. And I wish her and her kids the best.
I’m only speaking for myself, but it’d be hard to really forget somebody after you married them after 30 days. [It’s] probably impactful, you know, for the rest of your life—whether you stay with them or not.”
Although there’s no sign of the couple reuniting in the future, it’s clear that there’s no ill will between them.
