Ludacris’ daughter Karma Bridges had to get used to the spotlight from a very early age. However, she has always focused on forging her own path instead of riding on her famous father’s coattails.
Back in 2020, Karma’s whole family celebrated her admittance to college at 19. Scholarship Region reported that she was accepted to study Documentary Filmmaking and Film Studies at Spelman University in Atlanta.
Her exciting news was celebrated online by her godfather, Shaka Zulu, who also served as Ludacris’ manager at the time. He took to Instagram to post the message, “Hey guys pls celebrate and congratulate my GOD DAUGHTER Karma Bridges as she is headed to SPELMAN COLLEGE this fall.” He congratulated both of Karma’s parents, writing, “I know y’all are beyond proud.”

Ludacris shares his daughter with an Atlanta-based attorney named Christine White. In an interview with People magazine, Ludacris reflected on how his world changed when he found out he was having a baby for the first time.
But far from being nervous, the rapper talked about why he felt he was ready to become a dad. He said, “I had just started coming into money. I was in a good place mentally, spiritually, and financially, so I was prepared for fatherhood.”
However, he also opened up about the difficulties he had at times seeing his baby girl. He said, “I wanted to be with Karma at all times, but obviously because of my schedule and her being so young, I couldn’t.”
Karma Is Involved in Advocay Work
Although her dad has experience in front of the camera, it’s clear that Karma is prefers working behind the scenes. But like her dad, she has never been one to sit back and relax when there’s work to be done.
Karma is an advocate of women’s empowerment, social justice, and the power of art. According to Scholarship Region, she hopes to utilize her passion to make the world a better place. With that goal in mind, she started to make moves very early in her young life.
She founded an organization called ME in 2018, before she had even enrolled in college. The purpose of the organization was reportedly to promote women’s empowerment and self-love.
On top of her studies and endeavors, Karma found herself involved in an entirely new project after inspiring her dad. In October 2020, Ludacris released his new musical kids TV series on Netflix called Karma’s World. The show was apparently inspired by Ludacris’ eldest daughter, and she was heavily involved behind the scenes.
People reported that the rapper started working on the concept for the show 14 years before it reached Netflix. It all started when a young Karma repeatedly entered her dad’s home studio and told him she wanted to rap.
Ludacris said, “I had to sit down and say, ‘If you want to do music, you have to talk about what goes on in your world, because Daddy talks about what goes on in his.” The show therefore draws heavily on Karma’s own experiences and challenges for its storylines, often accompanied by music.
Ludacris’ Kids Actually Watch His Show
Ludacris, who also voices the character of Dad on the show, explained, “The songs are talking about self-confidence, self-empowerment, being a young girl, what they go through.” He added that Karma’s World was about “just trying to be positive for the world.” Ludacris went on to say that there are “so many pressures that young kids are going through right now”, which was why the timing of his show “couldn’t be more perfect.”
As well as empowerment, Ludacris also hoped to open up conversations about diversity and inclusion with the show he created with Karma. He said “Diversity and inclusion throughout” was important. Ludacris was especially proud that all four of his daughters enjoyed watching the show.

He said, “They get to watch all the episodes before the rest of the world gets to see them. It’s great because it promotes dialogue with things that are going on.” He added that the music on the show often got his girls “dancing and singing”, and described them as his “research group.”
All of Ludacris’ kids, including Karma, were in attendance last year as their dad was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. During the event, Karma showed Ludacris just how much she had grown up when she gave a speech in his honor.
She described him as “my rock, my hero… you always made it a point to make sure I felt valued.” There looks to be little doubt that Ludacris feels exactly the same way about her.
