At the beginning of his career, the now iconic Elvis Presley once had a pretty hard time making it big in the music industry.
And even though you would think that most people gave him a chance, not even the famous Cher was willing to work with him at one point.
Why Singer Cher Said No to the King of Rock and Roll
On a recent episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, Cher explained that she once said no to working with him, because she was afraid of the people he associated with.
She said “it wasn’t that they were bad people, it’s just that I was kind of nervous of his reputation.”

She explained that she’s often really shy when she’s not working, and furthermore, she’s just kind of shy around men in general.
At the time, Elvis was older than her by about ten years or so, and Cher continued on to explain that she also had a tendency to gravitate toward younger men.
She said that the reason why is because young men were the only ones that would approach her and not be too intimidated.
And by her experience, she explained that men her age and older, are for one mostly all passed away at this point, but that they were always terrified to approach her.
Cher’s On-and-Off Relationship
This tendency has continued throughout her life, as even her more recent relationship is with a younger man.
Their relationship first started a couple years ago when she was spotted with Alexander Edwards, who is in his thirties, in November of 2022.
But, by May of 2023, Us Weekly reported that the two of them had ended their relationship, but still wanted to be friends.
However their separation didn’t last long as they got back together that following September when they went to a Paris Fashion Week show together.
And ever since then, the two of them have had a seemingly good relationship to this day.
An insider came forward to tell Us Weekly at the time that “All their friends think they are adorable together and they have amazing chemistry.”
The two of them have also been creating music together, as the insider source revealed that Alexander even helped produce Cher’s most recent Christmas album.
And they said that he’s been trying to get Cher to approach her music with a fresher approach, and introduce her to a new sound.
Cher Said They Don’t Always See Eye to Eye
Despite their working together and their relationship, Cher admits that sometimes they don’t always see eye to eye.
She said that sometimes she talks to him about someone and he has no idea who she’s even referring to.
And most of the time he has to admit to her that he wasn’t born yet and didn’t know who she’s talking about.
Which is something that Cher definitely understands, as it’s just something that comes with the territory of dating someone so much younger than her.
Since she’s always been more comfortable around younger men, it kind of makes sense why working with Elvis was so intimidating for her.
But, there’s no denying that the two of them could have made some pretty iconic music together if things had been different.
