It looks like Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s divorce from Ryan Anderson has been put on hold for six months, as per Louisiana law.
Before the former couple can officially divorce in court, they will have to live apart for six months after the divorce papers are served, according to Jeffrey Carrier, Ryan’s attorney, who spoke with TMZ in late July. Ryan and Gypsy, who were married in 2022 while Gypsy was still in prison, will need this “trial separation” before they can officially end their marriage.
Gypsy, 32, and Ryan, 37, parted ways in just three months after Gypsy was granted parole in December 2023 following a seven-year jail term for her role in her mother Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard’s murder conspiracy with Nick Godejohn.
Why Are Gypsy And Ryan Breaking Up?
Gypsy filed for divorce on April 8. There are a number of reasons for the breakup, namely Ryan’s food-hoarding issues. Things got tense when Gypsy and Ryan fought over the food issues and she was quite angry after having to clean out their shared fridge while her ex was out of the home.
There are also rumors that Gypsy may have been cheating on Ryan with her ex-fiance, Ken Urker. There is no way to prove the infidelity, and Gypsy and Ken have not admitted to being together while Gypsy was with Ryan. However, some fans suspect that Gypsy and Ken were fooling around while Ryan was in the picture, as the two publicly got together less than a month after Gypsy and Ryan split. Initially, Gypsy and Ken were together in 2019 before Gypsy cut ties with him.
The pair were seen last April getting matching tattoos together, and Gypsy later confirmed with TMZ that the pair were an item.
“After reconnecting earlier this month (April), we realized that our love for each other is simply undeniable, and life is too short to not take a chance,” Gypsy told TMZ.
Ryan Anderson Was ‘Blindsided’ By The Split
Ryan, unfortunately, was “blindsided” by the split.
“It was like, she was here one day and the next she was gone,” Ryan said to TODAY. “The matching tattoos really, really got me, that was one that really hurt.”
The Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up docu-series revealed that Gypsy was texting Ken while she was married to Ryan. However, it’s unclear if any actual cheating occurred.
“He’s trying to weasel his way back in because Gypsy is out of prison,” said Ryan to TODAY.
Gypsy Rose And Ryan Anderson’s Impending Divorce
Jeffrey Carrier told TMZ that the six-month waiting period is required for married couples who do not have children together. Because Ryan wasn’t served until July, the six-month wait will likely end early next year.
In the meantime, it looks like the former couple is settling post-divorce issues ahead of time. No support or alimony will be exchanged, as agreed upon between both parties.
Just as well, despite only being together for less than two years, the pair have some assets that they will have to divide. Some of these assets include show contracts as well as books. Ryan will be taking their dog, Pixie.
