The father of Yung Miami’s son passed away four years ago, and the singer is now speaking out about her loss and the way it affected her. Losing a loved one is never easy, and it is especially hard for someone who is left raising a child alone. Since the passing, Yung Miami has achieved a lot of success but has also garnered much criticism.
Yung Miami’s Baby Daddy, Jai, Shot and Killed
Yung Miami and Jai Wiggins had a messy history, with Yung Miami filing for a restraining order against him in 2015. He nearly went to jail for violating that order in 2019. There are numerous reports that Jai was abusive, but the pair continued an off-and-on relationship for years.

Jai was shot and killed in June 2020, but very few details were released after the incident. Although Jai and Yung Miami struggled over the years, she recently had a lot to say about him as a father.
Yung Miami Said ‘It’s Been 4 Yrs Since My Bd Passed …’
Yung Miami posted several photos of Jai and her son to mark the fourth anniversary of his passing. She also added several crying and broken heart emojis to the photos, as well as “4 YRS WOW.”
The caption read, “It’s been 4 yrs since my bd passed he died 2 weeks before my son 7th birthday my son turning 11 in 2 weeks ahhhhh.” Another post read, “I’m trying not to cry today but the rain is not making it no better.”
Fans quickly offered support in the comments, and some offered lighthearted comments to try to cheer the singer up. Of course, nothing can bring Jai back or fill the void he left, especially for him and Yung Miami’s son, Jai Jr.
Yung Miami Speaks Out In Interviews
This year isn’t the first time Yung Miami publicly remembered the passing of Jai Wiggins. Last year, Yung Miami did an interview with The Cut where she recounted some of the heartbreaking details surrounding Jai’s death.
In the interview, Yung Miami states that she never really had time to process her emotions after Jai’s passing. She was working a lot, and her schedule kept her busy.
Keeping busy after a loss can be a good thing and a way to avoid sinking into a depressive slump. However, it is also important to take the time to properly process what happened.
Yung Miami acknowledges in the interview how many people deal with depression after a loss and is thankful that she was able to overcome it by working.
Yung Miami’s Breaking Point
However, she eventually reached a breaking point and started crying uncontrollably at times. She even noted that she would try to hide her emotions by going for a drive or taking a shower so those around her wouldn’t see.
She also started questioning why it happened while still trying to stay composed for the sake of her children. Around the time of Jai’s death, Yung Miami was also starring in BMF on Starz. Her character’s father dies in the show, which she said only added to her emotional struggle.
Although Yung Miami is often seen as a powerful singer and actress, she has endured a lot. Her battles show that people can appear fine on the outside while dealing with serious internal struggles.
