After devastating twisters tore through Nebraska this weekend, country singer Zach Bryan stopped to lend a helping hand. People magazine reported that Zach and his whole band were present for a clean-up operation in the Elkhorn neighborhood of Omaha. The 28-year-old star was reportedly in town for a series of shows but felt obliged to help the community recover from the brutal storm.
The tornados ravaged areas in Nebraska but also in Oklahoma, Iowa, and Kansas. He explained what happened in a post on his Instagram account on Saturday.
Zach wrote that he had lived in Omaha, where he was due to perform, through “some pretty formidable years of my life. He went on to offer “some honest prayers and hopes to the communities affected by the tornadoes that tore through them.”
Zach wrote that he and his band were “standing with” the communities. He shared that he was “so sorry to anyone that is having to deal with picking up the pieces of their homes and their lives.”
A local resident called Kristi Andersen shared a picture of Zach assisting her son with an air conditioner. Along with the touching photo, she wrote, “I was a fan before but now even more so. What a great human!”
Kristi went on to gush about “how cool” it was that the country star would just “show up and start working.” According to her post, Zach arrived on the scene with no fanfare and got straight to work helping locals get their town upright again.
His selfless actions left Kristi as well as many others inspired. She finished her post by writing, “As the mother of two teenagers, that’s the kind of celebrity I want my kids to follow.”
Zach Wanted His Band to Do All They Could to Help
Her 17-year-old son Gavin was alongside his teammates from Elkhorn South High’s football team. Gavin later shared his experience with the Omaha World-Herald.
He revealed that Zach and his people told them that they “didn’t want any pictures or anything” to show off about his good deeds. Instead, they said they were “just there to help,” which the teenager described as “awesome to see.”

After the chaos brought about by the twisters, the people of Elkhound needed all the help they could get. The tornado that hit the neighborhood was rated as EF-3, meaning it was believed to have had a speed of around 160 miles per hour.
Tornadoes of similar intensity hit Marietta and Sulphur in Oklahoma. Reports have claimed that at least 5 people have tragically lost their lives as a result of the twisters. The level of damage to property has also been heartbreaking to see.
